That is bad. You should let him borrow your smart phone.

I think it is the function of two things. First, Brommer is seeing more playing time this year than any previous year and Coach Fran's system attacks the basket more than Lickliter's did.

Couple those two things together and I think almost every player who was here under Lickliter and is still on the team will be shooting more free throws this year.

Having said all that it is quite remarkable (and I think a positive) that Brommer (and the team as a whole) has shot as many free throws as they have at this point in the season. If the percentage can increase there are some free points for this team to be had.

Next year - total awesomeness from the FT line.

I understand why he's getting to the line more, I'm confused about the drastic change in percentage, I've never seen anything like it. Who's that old pitcher from the Royals that pitched great in odd years and horrible in even numbered years? Maybe it's something like that.

His FT % over playing time is a sinusoidal function... He'll be back up and back down before the season ends. :)

A better question: How did Brommer not even hit the rim with that break away layup at Purdue the other day? Cartwright lead him to the basket perfectly and he caught the ball cleanly and when he tried to go up it's like he just couldn't jump off one foot and slammed the ball off the back board.

He looked like and uncoordinated 8th grader learning the game.

I've likened him to a big clumsy dog who gets inside your house and obliviously knocks everything over as he bangs around. High energy, which is a good thing, but it can be painful to watch at times. I'll grant you that he's better now, as he's spent more time in the house.

Brilliant.

Bret Saberhagen was the Royals pitcher who would be solid every other year.

I know what must have happened! 55% of his FTs didn't go in!

(A special thanks to Eugene Levy in his car-salesman role from "National Lampoon's Vacation")

I like this analogy.....
Andrew certainly would have benefited from a red shirt.

Any "word" on Darius Stokes? Is he going to be a contributor next year?

It's funny you ask that, becasue last night I was reading an article relating to Darius and I didn't realize he only averaged about 5 points a game as a senior on high school. I thought he was a bigger stud than that in high school. I only watched him on T.V. once his senior year and I thought he looked pretty soild. I for one hope he develops and becomes a Big Ten hoopster.

First year, Brommer was a bundle of nerves on the court and at the line...possibly traumitized by the missed free throws at the end of the BC game.
Second year, Brommer probably had a(who gives a flying frick,I am out of here after the year anyway)attitude, relaxed and knocked them down.
This year, Brommer is back to caring more, maybe, and is freezing up again.

Just a theory.

Maybe his percentage is down this year because he is shooting his FT's when he is much more winded then last year?

I mean he is coming off the bench but the pace might be disrupting his focus when it comes to something slow like free throws.

I don't think this is it. I could probably shoot 30% with my eyes closed and I shot about 70% in HS. I think that would be a bigger handicap than being winded.

People also wonder why some great shooters don't preform well in 3pt competitions and it has a lot to do with their routine being different.

I think the different style offense can have at least a small impact, but in addition with the extra time needed learning a whole new system the minutes used practicing free throws has to be lower.

another thing to consider is how many shots he is getting for each trip to the FT Line. Some people struggle with the 1st one consistantly but are a lot better on the 2nd shot. So if you have a 1 and 1 or made FG and have only 1 FT it can hurt your % if you aren't good at hitting the 1st free throw.
