AND THEN THERE WERE 6

Hey bcl, read your own post. You started it with "We can win out." So you were talking about winning out and winning at MSU. Now of course, we theoretically can "win out," but talk like that does not sound very intelligent IMHO.

bcl it's funny you say Iowa has a chance to win at Mich St and some posters are acting like there is a 0% chance when in reality it's probably ~35-40%. Then get on you for pointing out the facts or real odds.

I think we will go 4-2 the rest of the way with the losses being Minn and MSU. I would be ecstatic if we go 5-1.

"I'm not saying we're favored or anything" would be pretty big admittance that it's a daunting task. But ******* Columbia had an opportunity to win there. Sorry if I'm not counting it as a loss.

Well to be fair, you're either counting it as a win or you're counting it as a loss and the former is a lot less reasonable than the latter. CAN Iowa win in Breslin? Sure. I just don't think we're going to. 5-1, win the BTT, get a 3 seed.

Once MSU gets everyone back, they're the best team in college basketball.

Now that they have Payne back, even without Appling and Dawson, they're still a Top 15 team and I'd favor them over Iowa in ESL

I would say the odds of us beating them are the same as the odds were of them beating us in Carver. I'm really hoping we return the favor.

The title in all caps made me nervous about opening this thread...thought for a second it would be a longtimer thread.

Sounds right to me. Iowa was -5.5 at home. Should be real close to that. We might even have a better chance.

I think they'll win at Indiana now. If I had to pick two games, it would be at MSU and at Minnesota.

And the Minnesota game looks alot more winnable to me than it did a few weeks ago. Momentum and confidence are a funny thing...beat Indiana and Wisconsin and the team will have some swagger heading to Minnesota. What a great season of college basketball. I almost forgot what it was like when your team actually mattered and could beat anyone on a given night. Fran's history of having his team playing at it's peak at the end of the year is very intriguing right now.

If we win out leading up to the game in EL, I could see a very similar line to the one from January. But if we lose to either Wisconsin or Minnesota and MSU is healthy, I think they'll be favored by more like 7-10 points.

Repeating from a week ago, but....

4-2
2-1 BTT

25-9
#4 seed
Elite eight as a minimum....we'll play well and blow people away who won't/don't believe we can be "good"

What is your argument here exactly? That Michigan State is good? That they are tough to beat at home? That Iowa likely won't win all their games?

You're not really telling me anything I don't know here. I'm not sure what's unintelligent about saying something can happen when something can happen. I would say that explicitly stating facts would be the opposite of unintelligent.

Anyways, people act like winning in is impossible because of a bunch of games from the past that don't matter at all and that's cowardly and stupid.

Goophers may be playing for NCAA tourney lives at that point, tough game to win. I would sign for 23-8, 12-6 right now, as long as that gets us a 3 seed in the BTT

I totally agree. I am not a huge BB fan,but I watch the Hawks no matter what. This is the first season in a long while that I have payed much attention to the BB landscape because we matter in it.I didn't even watch any of the tournament because we were out of it. Its good to be relevant again.

I'd probably be in this camp as well. I think the game could be very similar to the last game (in terms of competitiveness and entertainment). We don't go on a 14+ minute drought; and they have payers back/healthy. I'm nervously excited about that game, but first we have to get there. And hopefully we can win out up to that point (and then steal one in their house).
