An Iowa win over Nebraska...

MUST BEAT NEBRASKA.....I would be satisfied losing every game if I knew for certain that we would beat UNL

Its that important.

You must live in or close to Nebraska because that is just crazy talk. You sound like an ISU fan.

Wouldd love nothing better than to beat Nebby this week, but the last two losses to Minny have left an extremely sour taste in my mouth.

Iowa on the road is still Iowa on the road. 1 win in the last year does not make me feel good. I would love nothing more than a win on Friday, but it won't happen.

It's one thing to win at Purdue. We all know that we gave the game away on both sides, but we got the better side this time.

At Lincoln, first time ever, last game of the year, and they just got whooped by Michigan? We would need to come with one of our best games of the year.

Also, we would need to throw 8 guys in the box to stop the run, which we don't do.

THIS IS EPIC! I'm going and I'm so pumped. if we leave lincoln with a w it would be amazing. If iowa comes out with a great drive to start the game and controls tempo it's ours. This game may as well be the super bowl. Come on hawks lets GET SOME

Huge game and would make this season a big success! However I am not getting my hopes up, The Hawkeyes have not been very consistent and Nebby got embarrassed by Michigan last week, hope I'm wrong but we may be walking into a hornet's nest.

Dont know that you can call it a season saver, but it might be close.

The loss at Minnesota is never going to be shaken off...however, before the year if I asked you what was more likely, a win at Minn and a loss at Neb or the reverse, I think we all know the answer.

To beat Nebraska in Lincoln, getting Iowa to 8-4 and possibly a New Years Day (legit) bowl bid in a rebuilding year for the program, where it returned the fewest starters of any Big Ten team?

I think that would be a pretty darn strong effort.

agree, Jon please pick Nebby to win, we need all the good karma we can get

I would be satisfied losing every time to UNL if I knew for certain that we would win every other game on our schedule

Fixed what your brain should be thinking.

And everybody can try and polish the turd that was the loss at Minnesota all they want...

Sorry, pal, when you only return 8 starters and have to replace 14 starters,it is a rebuilding year at Iowa. Next year will be also, unfortunately,as we still lose a lot of seniors who were inexperienced coming into this year.

I will not lie,as I am Mr. Optimist. I had us going 10-2 with losses at PSU and Neb.
Now, the two losses that I struggle with somewhat, are clearly ISU and Minny...but both were razor close. MSU turned out to be a little better than I thought.
So,I can rationalize our record. But beating Nebraska would be an unexpected bonus.
I am realistic...we are 10 pt underdogs, but if nothing else,I hope we play a tight, exciting game that thrills the nation, and gets the Huskers attention.
If we somehow squeak out a win? Good season, with wins over Michigan,Neb and NW.
Plus,it would give us a running start in the Nebraska series, with a good chance to go 2-0 with Vandy in kinnick next year vs the Huskers....now,that would get the Huskers attention!

I think a lot of us thought that Iowa would end up between 7-5 and 9-3. But very few of us thought they would lose to Minnesota and Iowa State.

While it turns out that ISU has some spark, losing to a team that lost to NM State and N Dakota State and has gotten blown out by nearly every B1G team this year leaves a stench in the air that may not go away for awhile. If we step back and look at the big picture, yes it is a good season for a rebuilding year. But there is not a lot of hope that next year will be better.

I have to admit beating NE at their place would be great. If they do, that would make the Minnesota game even MORE disappointing. But nothing can be done about the loss in Minn so hopefully the hawks can put on a good show Friday. If nothing else, I want to see them play a good strong game without a lot of foolish mistakes and turnovers and falling for fake plays.

Beating Nebraska at home would be a big end too the season, and help wipe away bad taste of Minnesota and give us a solid bowl. With that said it is going too take best effort of the season for an Iowa win.

I hadn't given Iowa a chance all year in this game until this week...

1. Neb is coming off an embarrassing loss at Mich. Some would say they are now "mad." On the contrary IMO. Especially at this time of year, when you lose that badly with a shot at a championship still on the line, it defeats a team's moral. Nebraska has been impressive at times, but like Iowa, has been highly inconsistent too. This Nebraska team will come out of the gates on Friday with smoke coming out of their nostrils, but may just be blowing smoke. Their confidence is shaken right now as they have lost 2 of their last 3 ballgames, including their last home game vs NW. If Iowa can stave off the initial burst and take the fans out of the game, we have a good chance at putting a great deal of doubt in their minds.

2. The game is at Nebraska: Sure, this usually means a significant home field advantage. However, it also brings a lot of pressure from the fan base. I would contend that an Iowa loss doesn't look near as bad as a Neb loss to their respective fans. The pressure is all on Neb. Iowa can play loose.

3. Nobody gives Iowa a chance in this game. While Iowa's style of playing close games drives fans nuts, it also gives us a realistic chance in this game. Iowa thrives as an underdog. This Iowa team will band together this week with a lot of confidence in light of their first road win and beating a Mich team that just crushed Neb.

4. As last week in college football shows us, anyone can beat anyone on any given day. I think the intangibles are aligning nicely for Iowa to spring the upset here.

Go Hawks!

8-4 with a win over Nebby and at least a respectable showing (if not a win) in a decent bowl is good for a rebuilding year.

The more I think about this game the more I like Iowa's chances. Both teams have bad defenses but at least Iowa's offense is more balanced. Now, if they can just play a decent game on the road....
