An Iowa win over Nebraska...

A win over Nebraska is possible and would make this a very nice season, earning us a very nice bowl game. Whether of not we beat Nebraska, the Minnesota game is long over. Keep in mind that Iowa State and NorthWestern have beaten them at Nebraska. This is an eagerly anticipated game, one of the most awaited games in recent history.....

Farmageddon......

It would be nice. I just dont see it happening. Lincoln is a tough place to play and this team is horrid on the road. One can hope though.

Eight wins, including over Michigan and Nebraska, would be a very good season given the team we have. We didn't have a particularly difficult schedule, but it would still be very good.

agreed. People keep harping on that Minnesota loss but that loss didn't cost us anything really. MSU still would have won the division no matter how the Nebraska game turned out, Iowa wouldn't be in a better bowl position because if a bowl wants Nebraska they'll pick them over Iowa whether they have the same record or a worse record.

You can't just look at how the food's made, sometimes you just have to taste the results. I hated that Minnesota loss as much as the next guy but if this team gets to 8 wins with wins over Michigan and Nebraska, that's a good season.

Also, you can't punish this years team for last year's failure. 8 wins last year would have been disapointing. This is a different team and should have different expectations.

I think it's a huge success. Before the season I thought we were a 9 win team. After watching the team this year I greatly overestimated our talent/experience. For our talent leve/experience, 8 wins is a great season for us. If we can split the next two games (Neb/bowl game) and get to 8 wins then I'm thrilled.

I think finishing 8-4 would not be too bad at all. Going 3-1 down the stretch would be nice. The thing is the Minnesota loss has got to be shaken off. People have to move on and realize three things:
1-We ended Northwestern's 3 game win streak over us
2-We beat Michigan for the third time in a row
3-We beat Purdue and got that road losing streak monkey off our backs

We can't shut up obnoxious ISU or Minnesota fans, but we can do it to the Huskers if we play our best.

It never fails...we come to the end of another Iowa football season and we have the what ifs again....What if Iowa stopped ISU on the last drive in OT and won, what if Iowa brought an average offense to Penn State, What if Iowa played average at worst at Minnesota....3 games should have been 3 wins and we are sitting at 10-1....OH WHAT IF! :)

I'd love to see the Hawks win in Lincoln, mostly for the Seniors on this team - especially McNutt who has had an extrordinary season. He has made some of the most remarkable plays an Iowa WR has ever made.

I must admit, it's a long shot. I'd call it a pickem game if it were in Kinnick.

The "road monkey" is only off our backs because Purdue tripped all over themselves and made more mistakes than Iowa did. The Hawks are going to have to play their very best game of the year and catch a few breaks if they have any hope of winning on the road @ Nebby.

Vegas set the line at 10.5, and they are often right. If I was going to predict a score I would say Nebby wins 31-24. That bening said let em play and see who the better team is! The Hawks certainly have a punchers chance.

They made more mistakes than we did? Seriously, you're going to act like they gave us the game? We got 5 sacks on them and got consistent pressure all day. We picked off two passes. On the ugly side, we fumbled four times to their three (both lost 2), we dropped at least 4 passes and were penalized 5 times for 40 yards to their 1 for 7. We were both 100% on 4th down and 50% on third. They didn't make more mistakes than we did as much as we made more plays when it mattered. We could have buried them a LOT worse than we did, so stop acting like we got lucky.

I would love a win over Nebby. The last thing I want is for the Hawks to lose. Really put thought into this. Not only will Nebby fans give you crap, but ISU fan will do it too! ISU fans are high after their big win and always said that we would not beat Nebby. Nebby fans are all over the place in DeMo. I have actually counted 15 Nebby shirts at work today.

Please Hawkeyes show up to this years game! Oh and 8-4 would be fine with me. I thought it was going to be an 8-4 year. I don't care how we got there, but it would be better this way, because I really hope they can beat them.

Two things:

It would in fact redeem the season and instantly create a red-hot rivalry.

Second: Y'all need to flush the Minnesota loss. It happened, it shouldn't have, I'm over it, you guys should get over it too. Why dwell on it? There's nothing you can do about it. And for the record, Minnesota went and played Michigan State tougher than we did...and at East Lansing.

Dont know that you can call it a season saver, but it might be close.

The loss at Minnesota is never going to be shaken off...however, before the year if I asked you what was more likely, a win at Minn and a loss at Neb or the reverse, I think we all know the answer.

To beat Nebraska in Lincoln, getting Iowa to 8-4 and possibly a New Years Day (legit) bowl bid in a rebuilding year for the program, where it returned the fewest starters of any Big Ten team?

I think that would be a pretty darn strong effort.

If we win two games to close out the year - In retrospect I'd say the season was saved.

I never thought htis team would be this bad on defense.

Just beacause someone might be "over it" doesn't mean it didn't happen. Sure its not good to dwell but when lookin at the entire season you have to look objectively at the whole picture.

Omaha.... LOL UNL fans are convinced that they are just replacing ISU with Iowa.

Wow, if I didn't know any better I'd think that you were at the same bar as I was last night. I also live in Omaha and last night I was at my weekly scheduled college football debate I have with my bartender when he said those words exactly. "This isn't a rivalry, we are just replacing ISU with Iowa."

Totally agree with everything you said...

Iowa cannot be predicted this year!

Having said that, there were some encouraging signs last week.

VDB played pretty well on the road
The O line was pretty solid
The D line was pretty solid !
Prater picked up his game a bit
They freakin' won a road game.

All in all, an encouraging week, and hopefully they can finally put a full 60 minutes together.

Edit: I forgot to add that CJF's game is evolving quickly.

They won't be talking that way when after we beat them on a relatively regular basis.

Nebraska owned ISU. They'll never own us.

Speaking as a Hawkeye living in Neckbraska,,,this game is huge, far more important than a bowl game. I would have bragging rights at work for 365 days,,,priceless! Plus losing to Iowa would just kill the huskertards.

Or you could look at it this way (assuming a win at Nebraska): KF led a team with the least amount of returning starters in the B1G to an 8-4 record and another New Years Day bowl appearance. This team came within a couple plays of securing the 5th 10-win season in Ferentz 13 years as Iowa's coach.

But its a lot more fun to focus on the negatives and cry because the Hawks didnt meet some of our unreasonable expectations.
