It doesn't make a lot of sense because the NIT is supposably legit now. The teams get seeded and the highest seeded teams host, unless their facility is in use for the game.

I suppose Barta could have meant that he told the NIT that Carver was available. But Iowa would likely be a 5-8 seed in the NIT, so they would not be eligible to host anyway.

You can't buy your way into the NIT anymore.
