Am I taking this the wrong way? (KF quote)

The apologists won't like this. They really believe we have a saint. What irks me the most is . . . having a winner is far less important to them than having a saint.

I don't think KF is a saint. Not even close. He's stubborn and snarky. I would like to win more games and think he is making a terrible error in a couple of staff positions.

Actually, winning is far more important to me that having a saint (which we don't).

But no, I don't like BS made up crap as a criticism when you have plenty of viable things to complain about.

You don't know us apologists nearly as well as you think you do.

#2, #3, #4, #5 are not reasonable nor supported by anything. With so many viable things to be critical of, this is the stuff that irks me. The rest are fine. But 2-4 are absurd.

3 especially. Those players were quickly dismissed and didn't play, he didn't try to cover up anything. The only knock on KF regarding integrity that has any merit, at all, is the Rhabdo incident, and that's iffy at best.

2. Nationally ranked? maybe, but they were incoming frosh or redshirted. How about the 4-5 previous classes, you know, the ones that would be actually playing in 99 and 2000? I absolutely adore Hayden (I have a child named Hayden for God's sake), but if your gonna seriously make an argument saying we had the talent in the first couple years under KF, your out of your skull.

4. I think i'll go ahead and take NFL teams opinions. Where have you read that any of the NFL linemen have lacked fundamentals?? Because i've read the exact opposite in fact, possibly lacking in pure talent, but fundamentals are equal to a 2nd year NFL player. As you said, just an opinion of yours, you've never read a thing on it to support it...

Again, there are many things to be critical of....you don't need to make Shite up.

I am now very curious who you were on here prior to March, 2016.

Exhibit D

Gallery was well known to lack fundamentals when he came in.

Exhibit E - Rhabdo

If you take off your rose colored glasses you might be able to discern some things. The fundamental thing isn't made up. Why does Iowa seem to consistently struggle on the line? Oh I know...its the developmental program thing. The rape cover up thing is a matter of opinion. Things are more transparent everywhere now.

That said, the main point is there are no excuses for a long time coach to have so many bad years. Get over yourself.

You get over yourself first. "the rape cover up thing" , you didn't need to, to get your point across, but you did to sensationalize it. Good find on Gallery, he didn't make it as a LT at the NFL, still pretty good, you think that was accidental and wasn't from coaching at all? There are FAR more examples that support my take on this one, but you know that.

I have no rose colored glasses, if you've been paying attention at all I clearly am as upset at anyone and pointing a finger at KF.

Your link to a '98 article doesn't support your assessment that the talent was already here, but you found an article to link. Congrats.

I am well aware of your affinity for back and forth. This will be my last response to you on this subject.

Now tell me the head coach wasn't tone deaf about the optics of this. He literally INVENTED an award right after rhabdo. Apparently Doyle is also a saint.

I've lived a long time . . . haven't meant any saints . . . and don't expect I will.

Great link, not sure I understand your point. You called out the "apologists" for saying we'd rather have a saint than a winner. I pointed out you are wrong. The workout that caused rhabdo had been done for years.

I don't have the inclination to linked the dozens of former player tweets, quotes, etc of the praises of Doyle, but i'll go ahead and believe what they say.

Plenty to be critical of, you don't need to reach so far.

You like your back and forth even more, so feel free to keep posting links. This is my last response to you on this.

-apologist.

Have a nice day.... Btw, this is a discussion board. Sorry you don't always agree. Can't wait to discuss with you on other topics. I am well aware of your crankiness. Btw, I didn't sensationalize anything. I brought it up... that is about all. I've tried to find the rankings, but both of his last 2 classes were top 25 in some publications and how there would be a rebound. KF does surprise me. When one thinks he's out he comes back. I certainly don't want to see Iowa become Purdue or IL. Those places are worse now than ISU. At least ISU still supports their team. I used to think KF could bring things back around. Not so sure this time based on current recruiting. KF being squeaky clean is certainly not a valid reason to keep him due to field results and I think the reputation isn't so deserved. And I didn't bring up the SI article on Iowa's #1 ranking.
