Am I taking this the wrong way? (KF quote)

Whoa....frustration! I felt things were in trouble when Iowa played IU last year. Nebby wasn't a tough win for anyone. MN was a painful win to watch. Illinois was actually almost a good team last year. Which ever team in the west play OSU it will be painful. Wasn't it in 14 when Wisky got trucked?

I just have a feeling Minny is gonna take our manhood again..they hit like we used to..

Riches??? What are you talking about? Most fans are waking up and realizing that last year was the product of a lame ass schedule and that some of those programs we played were down or having a lots of injuries.

Talk about bad luck for Wisconsin. They were running us over like a semi. If their guard doesn't step on their QB's foot causing a bad hand off their running back walks in for a TD and takes the lead. Our hapless offense hadn't done crap the previous two possessions and there is no way we would have done shit against Wisconsin's defense on our last offensive drive. Game over, Wisconsin wins and that was against a Wisconsin team that was one of the weakest they have had in the last five years.

We beat no one that was good and lost to the stiffest competition of the year up to that point in MSU. Alabama knew what MSU was and showed us just how bad they were. Stanford put an exclamation point on it with a cherry on top.

That's your idea of RICHES??? Many are not buying this bullshit anymore and they are sick of it. Like I said in another post, it's like people are under some kind of mind control similar to what you see with religious cults.

Great post. People in the stands are sick of the shit we see every week. This team is brutal, I mean bad. There is no emotion, no fire, no leader, nothing. This is gonna get ugly.

Well maybe I am misunderstanding your position. If so I am sorry. It just came off like your were one of those people whom come on here and like defending the status quo.

Obviously I am very disappointed with how things have gone this far as are a lot of people. You look at last year and what we had coming back. Plus CJ was hampered last year with an injury. It's natural to expect a healthy QB to be more affective. It's also natural to at least hope the team to be improved and better. To lose to North Dekota and Northwestern wasn't in most people's expectations. It just shouldn't have happened given the level that we should be at and the level they are at.

I really had hoped this would be the year when everything aligns with the players we have and a very favorable schedule. We all know that just doesn't happen very often so you have to make hay when the opportunity exist. It's frustrating to see a lost rare opportunity. In the back of a person minds are seasons past where expectations were high and we fall flat on our faces. You given the benefit of a doubt to the program and say these things can happen and move on and support the team. When a trend developes then you have issues and realize that it's more than just one of those things that happen.

I never thought Barta was doing the right thing and that he was over reacting to last year's performance. I thought to myself how do we know this isn't just because of an excellent QB combined with a weak schedule. I even conceded and expected this too be another great year with a 12-0, 11-1, or 10-2. I felt a prudent wise AD would grant one year extensions up past a year after CJ was gone. This lets recruits know that their coach will be there for their four years. Then if the recent recruiting success start to reflect in successful seasons after CJ is gone then be a little more generous with extensions and pay increases.

I in no way expected to see the team come out against what should have been inferior competition and get smashed in the mouth and lose two games. They have no business losing to those tow teams. No excuses at all. It should not have happened. Lose a game or two in the B1G I can deal with that. I would still be disappointed but not as upset about it.

What I am seeing this year I thought could have happened after CJ and a few of our other best players had graduated. This is shocking to watch this. It's like last year was a total fluke and the Rose Bowl was the reality of this program.

I have always like the person Kirk is. To me he has always seemed like a genuine nice person along with his family. Past that though I have to bring his coaching and his staff into question. Not individually as we know we Iowa has enough players in the NFL. Having said that it is frustrating that putting it all together as team concept and having it show up on the field of play has been a failure. It makes no sense to send as many to the NFL and not be talking about B1G Championships. Even once in a while of finishing at the end of the college football season ranked in college football rankings in the top five.

That Rose bowl was tough to watch. Wasn't even close. That was painful. I was hoping for redemption this year. Just another year of HAWKEYE football.

Its not his fault the players are making mistakes and throwing interceptions and missing tackles. The players are letting him down this year.
Not buying it pal. It is the coaches jobs to have the players ready - and three weeks in a row they have played like they were not ready. Then you see what teams are doing to us even when we are not committing penalties and you see the real story.
This team is getting HORRIBLY out-coached. During years when we are good (like last year) ALL the key halftime adjustments are being made by Iowa. During years like this, we seem to make none while the other teams really get us figured out.

"Were not a good enough team to overcome penalties"

That really, really rubs me the wrong way. I get that we had a lot of penalties, but it really sounds as though he is blaming the players instead of himself.
Wait a minute, he said "we're", so he's including himself, isn't he?

Yes actually you do misunderstand. We pretty much agree. My Main Points:

1. Was not happy about KFs hiring in the first place. I thought he was a boring hire. I think I'm right and then he turns in a stellar year. Sort of reminds me of Ron Turner. Guy has put together a stellar season or 2. But that's it.

2. I don't think Iowa was as bad as KFs first couple of years record indicates. Fans over and over again forget that HF had 2 nationally ranked recruiting classes his last 2 years. HFs ups and downs can be traced to lost assistants. KF, no.

3. I don't think KF is as squeaky clean as his fan reputation thinks. The rape dorm situation. The mariuana/drug things with the wr. There is more to that story.

4. I think his NFL lineman reputation is over blown. In my opinion and that is all it is, it is related to having players that listen and have become weight lifting behemoths. I have read at times where various players go into the NFL lacking fundamentals.

5. The contract handling at his start didn't make is seem he wanted to be in Iowa City. Now he makes excuses about how bad it is.

6. KF tries to make players be what he wants them to be, not what they are.

7. KR tries to run a game the way he wants it to be, not the way it is. Even when he is forced to allow that he comes right back the next year and does it again. Case in point (s) Senior QBs.

8. I don't think the Hawks are at a bottom. The talent coming in is highly questionable.

9. I think that with his philosophy of highly conservative football...that this is one of the main reasons it is hard to compete for top talent. Much more so than Iowa City location.

10. Best teams in my opinion are about getting players to step out and become leaders not followers. KF wants followers walking in unison behind him. Sometimes it works when the QB doesn't follow this.

I thought KFs comment was actually quite contrite, which is unusual for him..

Either way, it showed really well to the recruits. We all know recruiting is tough enough especially with coaching and play like we have this year. Just thought that was a bad look from the fan base that wants better recruits. The game was ugly enough to turn most of them off

I think we are all frustrated.
Then why don't we show it? Lew Montgomery was on the Post Game show basically screaming that every single one of the guys that where interviewed where just going on and on, there was no real fire in their words or energy. It seemed as if they just wanted to get on with their day. Where is the Mitch King in this goddam team? We need more people to step the hell up and get some asses lit the hell up. If you are going to get your head patted and told that's ok after every loss, then where is the motivation?

The fans are super frustrated. The players are clearly frustrated they just can't be as obvious about it. The coaches though appear to not give a shit which infuriates me.

Ferentz and staff have never been ones to show their dirty laundry to the public. Unless you are there behind the scenes how do you know they don't give a shit? I would almost guarantee that if Ferentz or one of the other staff were to act like a Bo Pelini or some other blowhard this forum would be blown up with people disgusted by their behavior. I don't know why people still say it seems they don't care when we have had the same behavior for the last 17 years.

#2, #3, #4, #5 are not reasonable nor supported by anything. With so many viable things to be critical of, this is the stuff that irks me. The rest are fine. But 2-4 are absurd.

3 especially. Those players were quickly dismissed and didn't play, he didn't try to cover up anything. The only knock on KF regarding integrity that has any merit, at all, is the Rhabdo incident, and that's iffy at best.

2. Nationally ranked? maybe, but they were incoming frosh or redshirted. How about the 4-5 previous classes, you know, the ones that would be actually playing in 99 and 2000? I absolutely adore Hayden (I have a child named Hayden for God's sake), but if your gonna seriously make an argument saying we had the talent in the first couple years under KF, your out of your skull.

4. I think i'll go ahead and take NFL teams opinions. Where have you read that any of the NFL linemen have lacked fundamentals?? Because i've read the exact opposite in fact, possibly lacking in pure talent, but fundamentals are equal to a 2nd year NFL player. As you said, just an opinion of yours, you've never read a thing on it to support it...

Again, there are many things to be critical of....you don't need to make Shite up.

I am now very curious who you were on here prior to March, 2016.

The apologists won't like this. They really believe we have a saint. What irks me the most is . . . having a winner is far less important to them than having a saint.
