Alvarez on Future Wisconsin Offensive Philosophy

This is the problem with the whole Boise thing. Boise has a 29% SIX YEAR graduation rate. Their standards are way below KState. They are basically a JC. Their success has been about taking kids with mad athletic talent who couldn't get into FBS programs in the west.

Basically, they adopted the Southern Schools model and took it to the North.

This is why I keep saying you cannot compare Iowa to Kansas State or Boise State. While some argue Iowa's admission standards are among the lowest in the B1G it is still well above the standards at either of those schools.

I understand Jon's point about schools like Iowa and Wisconsin able to go to a spread offense, but is showing a little creativity to much to ask? Or how about a mobile quarterback? If Iowa is not getting skilled wide outs that can stretch the field then they do not need a pro style QB that can throw the ball 60 yards downfield. One of the most successful plays I have seen Iowa run the past few years is the bootleg. When you have a quarterback that can move around it forces the linebackers to come up and it can leave receivers and tightends wide open in the middle of the field. If those linebackers stay back in coverage and your QB can run it ends up being a 8 to 15 yard run play. Plays we have seen other teams in the B1G use effectively against Iowa all the time. I do not think any of this means making drastic changes to the offense, perhaps a different recruiting plan when getting a QB.

I did not know that. Wow. Explains a lot. Including the NCAA push to assign consequences to poor graduation rates.

Ferentz's offensive philosophy: "not executing" and risk aversion

It doesn't matter which philosophy the talent is suited for if you're not going to use the players effectively.
