Just some food for thought here. How many programs around the country (across all conferences) have had more prolific offenses than Iowa over the past 10 years? All those programs certainly aren't getting NFL talent or top recruits. Perhaps this isn't a fair example, but Oregon, for all its incredible offensive production the past several years, has had little NFL talent. I give credit to Kelly's incredible innovation, and it's not fair to expect Iowa to be able to mirror that, but at some point you can no longer ignore Iowa's breathtaking lack of creativity or innovation on the offensive side of the ball.
Take a guy like Canzeri or Bullock, for example. They both might turn out to be interesting skill players. But what has anyone seen from Ferentz that makes you think Iowa will find a way to maximize their talent?
