All of a sudden it looks a lot tougher for Iowa

If Iowa loses in Madison all they are playing for is a better bowl game.
Now this a true statement. This is such a huge game for this season. Win, and we are in good position to win the West.

I keep hoping that with the in game experience and constant weight lifting and strengthening that the offensive line will suddenly blossom and our offense will start to catch up with our defense. If that happens look out. 11-1 and going up against a third ranked Ohio State. Win that and there is still a chance (you know what I am talking about).

Even though we didn’t play yesterday we could possibly slip back into the top ten. There are enough games left for Iowa to work their way up the ladder.

If we somehow could gain fifth place when w ego to play Ohio State then there is that outside chance, actually in that scenario I would say it would be a certainty.

Alabama is fraud this year. Their strength of schedule is ridiculous. They will not survive the SEC championship against Georgia and will have two losses. Their out! Oklahoma is another poser. Living off of another weak schedule. The clones just did a huge favor by beating Okey State. Can they do it again and beat Oklahoma? Maybe.

I know this all seems like pie in the sky, but it’s a possibility, remote but possible. Fun to think about. Yeah I know………..Ohio State looks like a national champion at this point. How could we ever beat them if my scenario plays out.

Of course it’s been said many times by many people nuthatch history repeats itself and many are suffering from Kirk fatigue.

In an ideal scenario Kirk retires but Parker stays on and we get a new coach who believes in a real offense.

History says many of you are right. That some how, some way, there is another one or two Purdue type losses in front of us. I hope not!

Lol, they are 12-1 over their last 13 and some don’t see how they’re going to win 1 more game lol? It’s like this is the first college season you’ve watched or first loss you’ve experienced as Iowa fan. Tell me you don’t watch college football without saying you don’t watch college football.

Like most things the truth lies somewhere in the middle with what you are saying and what they are saying. Your point has merit; however, you can look at Iowa’s last 5 games and you can see how they could lose them all. They probably won’t, but you can definitely see it.

Iowa is averaging 4.5 yards per play this year. The only years worse was 2004, 2007, and 2012 at 4.4 ypp. Just so hard to win in today’s game doing that

I would exclude ‘04 because they had a QB and receivers that could make plays. You were far less reliant on flawless execution.

Wow...Mertz only threw 8 passes today and only completed 5 and Wisconsin still won by 3 scores. Not sure if that says more about Wisconsin or about Purdue...

Did Wisconsin finally say screw it and take the ball out of Mertzs’ hands?

As for Purdue, they were always a 7-5/6-6 football team to me.

If Iowa can stop the run and limit turnovers, they can win this game. Period. Wisconsin is very limited offensively and has a T/O problem. Then we hammer NW. From there it's momentum. I agree though with poster we could lose 3 or more if the offense continues to puke.

Wisky's coach Chryst did this 3 games ago as he almost exclusively ran the ball at Illinois, controlled the game, and beat the snot out of Bret's team. Then wash rinse repeat against Army and Purdue.

Wisconsin is built very similarly to ISU, but with worse QB play. Big offensive line, big back, solid TE and a very aggressive defense. Iowa can win a 20-13 type game with subpar offense as long as Petras doesn't turn the ball over. Purdue's tight end had a big day, so hopefully the offensive gameplan is to get LaPorta/Lachey/Goodson in one-on-one opportunities vs their LBs and safeties.

I think we get a PR touchdown this weekend too as Jones should have a lot of opportunities and Woods mentioned a few tweaks to an already impressive unit.

Mertz only threw 8 passes against Purdue yesterday. Their coach knows their weakness in the passing game and is limiting it. They could come out and pass a bunch of play action against Iowa as we try to stop their run game.

But only 8 passes in this time of high powered passing attacks.

Yes, the Debbie downers are now awake and talkative. 1 loss in 13 and the sky falls, sheesh

Wisconsin always seems to have our number and then factor in our underachieving oline and a statue for a qb. We wont win this game unless we muddy it up and get 3 or so turnovers

The real question would be do they watch sports or have they ever played sports of any kind at all, on any level? I've experienced it both as a player and from a coaches box. Your talented team has a great season going, you experience an emotional hard fought win over another great team/rival. Lose next game to a team you have no business losing to. Happened 2 years in a row with same exact teams once upon a time back when I was coaching HS Softball.

It happens all the time! They will be fine.
