All Iowa native Starting 5 for Hawkeyes ?

Adam Woodbury - Sioux City
Jarrod Uthoff - Cedar Rapids
Dale Jones - Waterloo
Peter Jok - Des Moines
Mike Gesell - Sioux City (south played on Iowa AAU, close enough)

Bench---

Baer - Bettendorf
Okey Ukah -- Iowa City

Sapp- Anthony has been in Iowa City for 4 years, pretty much full Hawkeye State guy now.

Does I.S. who have ANY player from the HAWKEYE State? Hoiberg is, but...........

No, ISU does not have any instate players. I guess i knew that, but just never really thought about it. Sad considering there is plenty of talent on high D1 rosters(I included UNI in that).

Transfer U doesn't have ANY players from the HAWKEYE State?

LOL

Yet, you have some dolts who foolishly have started to worship Jamie-ball, even
disgruntled Hawkeyes.

LMAO

If only they knew that ISU had no Iowans then they would realize how foolish they are to be happy about wins that come from such a roster.

Do you think Kentucky fans care that their team has no KY natives? Maybe it's an unfair comparison since most of their fans aren't natives, either.

You get the best players you can get, no matter where they're from. It's not like ISU hasn't recruited in-state players; Iowa has just been better at landing them. And that starting lineup doesn't exactly scare many outsiders, especially if we removed Uthoff from the equation (since he didn't actually sign with Iowa and transferred in).

Why do some Hawkeye posters insist on 'sticking-up' for Lames?

As much as I wish it were not true, ISU simply has a better men's hoops program right now, not just team but program. That may change but right now it's almost fact. Fred had a system that works and it doesn't include Iowa HS hoopsters. That's good for the Hawks because recruiting aganist ISU in men's basketball will have more losses than wins unless the kid grew up a Hawk.

That all being said, FM is building his program steadily the way Iowa wants him to build. That includes 1/6 Iowa natives in the incoming class. The trajectory is still up IMO.

Why does it matter if the kid is a native of Iowa? Are we so superficial to tie our self worth to that of a kid that happened to be born in Iowa?

Matt Bullard grew up in WDM...He would make the team for sure.

This is probably more along the truth over anything else. It's great if it all works out but looks like a total bust if it don't. Personally we should get the best kids that are in the state but Fran needs to go into someone else's back yard and show he can steal a top recruit here and there. As usual hoping for the best this upcoming season and will expect it until proven other wise. GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!

What the Monkeys?

This current Fresh class has recruits from Illinois, Kentucky, Ohio, so
I'm not sure how this thread got hijacked, but my MAIN POINT is that

Transfer U has NO ONE from Iowa.

Are we really bragging about having a roster of all kids from Iowa? That is the case out of default, not choice. Fran has proven to be inept at recruiting high level out of state talent. That is not opinion, that's simply fact. While I like that this past year he has branched out a bit and gone for urban kids, most of them were not even the best players on their high school team and weren't the blue chippers we would like to see.

I don't think anyone who is being honest with themselves thinks it's a GOOD thing to have an all Iowa roster. I'm pretty sure none of the Armstrong, Gamble, Horton, Marble, Lohaus studs were corn fed Iowa boys and we loved them.

What would make Iowa fans happier? Having a roster of mostly Iowans who finish 5th in the BIG and get to the 2nd round of the NCAAs? Or a mixed group with just a couple Iowans that finish 1st in the BIG and get to the elite 8 or higher?....

For a large group of Iowans to make a great run would be pretty darn historic and I hope I'm around to see the day...

I just hope this year's team can equal last year's 3rd place finish.

If you want to be happy with something about the Iowa basketball program, six hawkeye basketball players will be graduating this week. Denning, Uthoff, Gesell, White, Olesani, and Oglesby. I wonder when the last time that happened.

Ames, Iowa being wiped out by a tornado would be a good start....
