How come wrestlers are smarter than football or basketball players? Not that there aren't smart football and basketball players, but if you noticed the guys here are at the top of the pile athletically, and typically, the guys at the top of the pile in the other sports aren't getting as good of grades.

i wouldnt go as far as smarter. but its pretty impressive these guys are both national champions and still have great grades

I think part of that is that for most wrestlers there will never be a paid future. With football and basketball, you can go pro and get paid extreme amounts without having any degree. With wrestling, your future can be coaching for college, but most dont get that. Some will coach high school but you have to have a teaching degree for that. So that extra drive knowing they need a degree helps. And for football, taking repeated shots to the head never helped anyone.
