Alabama/Texas Thread

Never mind the Tate pick 6, Iowa giving up a punt return TD, or the Hawks sleeping through the first 3 quarters.

There were some brutal, horrible, terrible calls in that game that went against Iowa, but none of them cost Iowa the game.

No one said that the refs cost Iowa the game...someone said that they would hate to see Iowa SCREWED playing an SEC team by the refs...and they were screwed.

So are you saying though that if a team plays badly but is in the game at the end it doesn't matter what the refs do?

The refs cost us a chance to win the game.

I don't know bout you guys but I don't think either team is that good. I strongly believe Iowa or tOSU could very well beat both these teams and control them, anyone else think this?

People were wondering who would take over for Tebow when he left college football. If Texas wins this, it will be Gilbert!

You dont think that maybe it would be possible to get things going a little better if you aren't flagged for tackling, or flagged for getting ripped down by your facemask?

Did you miss the part where I said there were some brutal calls against the Hawks? I get tired of hearing people ******** about the officiating that day, or for the Michigan game that same year, or for the NW game that same year.

In all 3 instances, Iowa had chances to put the game away that they didn't take advantage of, or made enough mistakes (pick 6, punt return td) to blow all of their toes off.

The refs cost Iowa a chance to tie the game. But I would say that giving up a pick 6 and a punt return for a TD had just as big an impact in a game that was decided by 7 points as that one call.

The point is that if either one of those things doesn't happen, Iowa isn't in that position in the first place.

There has never been a more poorly officiated game in the history of college football. The announcers have never been on an officiating crew as much as the announcers of that game were.

I don't care how many chances Iowa had to put the game away, how many points they were ahead, how many turnovers they had, the refs were responsible for half of that loss.

I'm hoping for overtime, and for Boise to get ranked #1 in the final AP poll.

Boise should challenge the winner of this game to a match after the season is over.

Without even looking it up I bet the NCAA has rules against it. They have rules against literally everything.

This is like 2005 all over again with Vince Young. I mean could this be any greater story?? The star goes down and the TRUE freshman comes in and leads Texas to a NC over the mighty 'Bama defense.......

I am usually one of the last people to gripe about the refs, for every call there is usually one that goes the other way, but that day was not just bad officiating, there was intent. The Soloman play is one that will always stay with me and there is no way that 5 guys (or how ever many officials there are) on the field can just "miss" that.

I agree, but those officials didn't cause Tate to throw that pick 6 or cause the Iowa special teams to allow that punt return. What also gets lost in all of the ******** about the officials was Florida calling a fake punt with around 8 or 9 minutes to go, and getting the first down, and taking another 4 minutes off the clock.

I think intent is too strong of a word, that crew was just incompetent and out of it's league, and that is why Sun Belt refs don't do BCS conference bowl games any more.

Don't get me wrong, I was as flabbergasted as everyone was when I was watching that game, and just as ****** when it was over. Looking back on it, Iowa made just as many mistakes that day as they had calls go against them.
