Akrum's nw postgame interview

I’m guessing some of his frustration is that he was told he would be put in the slot, (once or twice a game for show doesn’t cut it — and no, no Butler is a poor excuse)

and that he would get open field touches as in more swing passes — which we can pass to WR behind the line several times a game (who can’t juke) but can’t find a Wadley swing anywhere in the playbook (who can juke NFL talent)? Absurd.

Those kind of promises or statements and then not following through on them lead to frustration.

Part of the problem is our talent level. Stanley is not going to connect consistently on passes over 10 yards, let alone beat anyone over the top,
except he has beat defenders over the top. But not consistently.
“Caddy” said:
nor are our receivers going to get separation, or beat anyone over the top.
Except they have on both counts. The problem with receivers is 3-4 dropped balls a game or for the freshman putting it on the ground after the catch.

As everyone knows, no comment really is a comment.

I would like to know who has control of the offense. Is it Brian's, to sink or swim, or does Kirk still have veto power over everything, or is it some hybrid of Brian and Kirk that amounts to stagnation on offense? It's hard to assess responsibility when who is controlling the levers isn't known.

So yesterday yesterday was on the players?

Wadley is the only reason we have won games this year. Yes Stanley did well against ISU with the passing, but Wadley took a 5 yard crossing pass and turned it into a 45 yard TD score.

Teams have stacked the box and we refuse to adapt....again and again.

Look again, they don't always stack the box, they don't need to. DLines are whipping our boys up front. Potentially explosive plays thrown down field end the the ball landing beyond the receiver.

There are so many things wrong with this offense. I'm sure every play the coaches see things to pick at. A mountain of miscues.

He's one of Iowas most explosive offensive weapons in decades and this coaching staff can't figure out how to get him the ball in space. Too bad he didn't go to Wisconsin -- we'd be talking about him and the Heisman right now.

Because all teams KNOW IT....

At the beginning of the year most people said he wasn't a 25-30 carry back. Well he is averaging 21 carries a game overall and 21 carries a game since Butler's injury. Averaging 24 touches a game overall. Given how the season is playing out the numbers point to a couple of things: How they are using him and the non-emergence of a second back. His carries and overall touches are where I thought they would be.

He seems really pissed off about the offensive woes. I certainly can't blame the poor kid. I'm confident he regrets coming back for his senior year.

That kid is a class act he clearly wants to go off. I'm so pissed that the Ferentz clan has ruined another star players Senior year.

I was thinking the same thing.

Below is a video of the interview Akrum spilled some of the beans in like Rob Howe mentioned earlier.

Is that what I said?
You’re far worse at trolling than the play calling from Iowa.
This:
Except they have on both counts. The problem with receivers is 3-4 dropped balls a game or for the freshman putting it on the ground after the catch.

Mistakes are going to happen. Even in the NFL. The bigger problem is that NW should not be a match for Iowa. Therein is the problem. The game was too close. So many games are too close. Makes mistakes look worse.

AW hit me with a lot of “no comment” during my interview as well. He did tell at least one reporter how he really felt, though:

Check out this comment from Stanley in the same piece.

“I think it kind of closes the playbook a little bit,” Iowa quarterback Nate Stanley said of what happens to the offense when the running game is ineffective. “It just comes down to making some more plays than we did and us not executing the way we wanted to.”

Then f****** OPEN the playbook. If you're struggling you have to try different things. No it doesn't just come down to making some more plays.. (NS learned the KFz talk well) It's the stubborn refusal to adjust your offense that is...Kirk Ferentz.
