Psych 101

Thats what you are left with, when there is nothing relevant to add. Good luck.....

Yes, this is also what I gathered from the article. I don't think Derby was in any way trying to take a jab at the Iowa staff at all. I think he was honestly just reacting to all coaching that he apparently hasn't been receiving during his "collegiate career" that he is now receiving. I find it hard to believe that he hasn't made the effort until now to work with coaches on his development as a QB. In fact, I remember reading about how much work he was putting into his development as a QB. Maybe that was all just BS, but I highly doubt it.
Of course you highly doubt it.its not what you want to be true.Psychology 101. This is also rudimentary psychology. He was saying he has relied on his athleticism in the past, but with some extensive training (thats ALL he was there for) he has realized the importance of mechanics AND the art of Quarterbacking! He, stressing HE had not put the overall mind set Heagain HE should have in focusing on that and then embracing the training. Annnndddddd after all there werent 100 plus other kids there learning DIFFERENT positions.. Hopefully this will clear up the confusion....

I think the confusion here is chad mis understanding what tksirius meant when he said he highly doubts aj was bs ing when he said how much work he was putting in to developing at qb

am I right tksirius?

Don't think so exactly. All I was referring to is: I remember reading prior to the position change about how AJ was putting a lot of work into his QB skills and he had made so much progress and.... that's why he was #2. So.... I find it hard to believe that was all a bunch of manure.

Maybe there wouldn't be all this confusion if he hadn't gone all mind reading psycho analysis on me.

i took the article as he was taking ownership of the struggles and not putting it on iowa but rather that his view point had changed. i figure iowa worked with him on the fine points of qb but he wasnt focused on those as he was focused on the plays and results. when iowa didnt like his version of devotion or style to qb he was asked to switch positions to where iowa thought he would be better suited. since he didnt like that he left and in leaving has decided to take the finer points more seriously.

Yes that’s how it was written if you aren't trying to interject your own agenda into it…..and no PC he was clearly suggesting he was poorly coached. It was classic see what you want to see.

Yup, cuz this obviously doesn't apply to you.

The Brady Bunch Movie - Jan Brady - YouTube

1st of all that’s funny......never saw the Brady bunch and 2ndly...dude…you can't come up with ANYTHING, at all to logically refute what I have said. Hawkfan and I had a solid dialogue. You have nothing so you have resorted to cheap attempts to impugn my thoughts here.

It hasn’t been even remotely affective. Again, anyone who may have held your position has to be shocked at your lack of nothing…..you even have people trying to redirect your thoughts because clearly that couldn’t have been what you meant…..

Talked to Josh Clark tonight, and AJ is back at IMG as mentioned in the article, working on QB mechanics.

It should be blindingly obvious by now that AJ is really, really committed to playing quarterback. We should applaud that kind of commitment, not condemn it.

Who are we to say it's "the wrong decision"? If he didn't love playing linebacker, he was never going to be a great linebacker (let alone NFL), regardless of his athleticism.

you don't let that kind of athletic specimen leave your program.

If a player doesnt want to stay, then let him go. Unhappy players dont help a team.

There are many atheltic specimens around. Not all of them are good football players. AJ has yet to prove himself that way at college level.

He wasn't going to play QB and he was not happy being moved elsewhere. At that point if he is not receptive to switching positions then he is no longer an asset to the team. I don't have a problem with him leaving.

too bad he left. would have been interesting to see what Greg Davis could have done with him.

kok saw that rudock was better than derby. kok saw stanzi was better than christensen. kf was the guy trying to stick with jake. so if the guy everyone thought was terrible with qbs was capable of seeing derby was below rudock i think davis would have seen it too.

It would not surprise me to see both Jake R and AJ become D-1 starters. If that happens, it would be hard to argue AJ didn't do the right thing.

i think aj did the right thing for himself. but i think rudock surpassed him and that facilitated iowa doing the right thing by them. hopefully he does well for himself.
