After 2 games....what say you now?

Based on what I've seen thru 2 weeks, I'm feeling better than the 9-3 that I projected.

I had the following as losses:

1. NW - They are just flat out bad right now. That could change, as it often does, but right now they stink.
2. OSU - Their passing offense looks as bad now as ours did last year. Much better chance for a win than I thought at the beginning of the year.
3. Wisky - I just can't get a read on them. The freshman back looks pretty decent. But other than that, they seem pretty "meh" right now.

The ones I had as wins, some seem more 50/50 right now....

1. Illinois and Purdue look much improved from last year. If these were on the road, I might be sweating a little...but with them both in Kinnick, I'm still feeling pretty good.

2. MSU also seems like they might be putting last year's nosedive behind them. We'll know more after the ND game. But with it being on the road, this one is looking more unsure than it did at the start of the year.

3. I'm more confident against Nebby than the beginning of the year, even though it's on the road

4. I just refuse to believe we'll lose to Fleck this year.

5. PSU seems more beatable, and I had us upsetting them. Their offense still looks pretty potent, but their defense has holes that can definitely be exploited. Pitt did pretty well, even though the score didn't necessarily indicate that. They ran the ball pretty good....they just had drives stall out. They had 2 different 15 play drives where they got 0 points. Not sure I've ever seen that.

I'm going to stick with 9-3, though, even though I honestly think we could get to 10-2. I feel like this schedule is looking a little like Wisky's last year where, at the start of the year, it looked like "murderer's row"...but once the dust settled, the teams everyone thought would be really good ended up not being quite that good....

I feel about the same as last year, KF owes a lot to Wadley. AW has bailed this team out so many times over the past two years. Of course some credit goes to the defense too. Name another player that turns a 5 yard crossing pattern into a 44 yard game tying TD ?

I think we are the same team as we have been since 2013. We can compete with most teams, will get blown out by teams that have a ton of talent, speed, and dynamic playmakers. We'll probably knock off a team we shouldn't in the Big10 play, and then go into a bowl game against SEC or Pac10 and get blown out.

I'm not that impressed with BF as a playcaller right now. If any of us didn't know better, it's the KOK offense. We are seeing some passes up the seam, some deep balls, and the bubble screen. I am hoping we add in some counter plays to help with the over pursuing of the defense against our stretch plays.

This weekend against N Texas is a great opportunity to get subs in to play. But if we don't execute our basic plays, there's no way we blow them out.

Just get the win, and see what happens under the lights against PSU

I still feel good about 9-3.
PSU and OSU likely win those games (bad match up) and NW looks worse than I expected, but they will find a way to surprise someone, probably Iowa.

Most of the teams haven't played anyone of any quality so it's really hard to say.

Before the season I saw no chance against Ohio State or Penn State. And only a slight chance against Wisconsin. Now I think there is more than a good chance Iowa might win 1 or 2 of those games.

I am sticking with 9-3 as well.

Penn St. is a loss. If this game came later in the year I would like their chances.......wrong team at the wrong time .

Stanley is more than a "game manager" if he has to chuck it 40+ times in a game he is capable of doing it.

Stanley looks like Steve Deace. Deace's face is a little more puffier.

I am still predicting 12-0.

Hey man, pass me that roach clip......just playin.....Iowa 9-3....I love the young kids and what they're bringing. Stanley, very impressive so far. Our backs will get better and so will our line. Defense? A little concerning. Too many passing yards, but well get that fixed. Need to stay healthy on bith sides of the ball.

PSU is going to think Iowa won't want to be on the same field. Iowa Quit will be bulletin board material. +Iowa

Iowa will only beat N. Texas 38-28 while PSU stomps Cupcake U 59-7. +Iowa

Home night game. +Iowa

Franklin. +PSU

Defending Champ. +PSU

=

PSU RB won't get 100 yards rushing. PSU QB will be harassed all game and be chewing on new rubber pellets 3X. Iowa wins 20-13

Likelihood of win best to worst

1. North Texas - yeah
2. Illinois - some defense, but an ugly team. Last week's game was unwatchable
3. Purdue - improving, could be the upset loss this year
4. Minnesota - a work in progress, winning @ Oregon St is a lot like @ ISU without the rivalry
5. Northwestern - they'll improve and we're on the road
6. Nebraska - same as above
7. Wisconsin - tough and @ Camp Randall
8. Ohio St - Oklahoma is a playoff team and tOSU has talent. Still, this could be 2017's big upset at Kinnick.
9. Penn St - I don't see us winning this one. We'll play them tougher at home, but...

BTW, "history" says Purdue will upset us. I read that Kirk has lost to double digit underdogs 12 times since 2006, basically once a year. Ouch.

Unfortunately even 10-2 won't win the West this year. I think we are destined for third place behind Wisconsin and Nebraska. 8-4.

What have you seen out of Nebraska that makes you think we will finish behind them? I'm not saying you're wrong I'm just honestly curious. They struggled with Arkansas State and then got rolled by Oregon.

Still too early to tell. If the defense doesn't improve my prediction of 7-5 should be close enough o the mark.

I have been impressed with the offense for the most part, but would like to see more consistency. I think Stanley is going to have a nice career at Iowa.

Was 6-6 until Butler showed up. I think he will make a difference. 7-5 and I'm standing by it. Just pray we don't get absolutely blasted in a bowl game.

I love to see a QB who wants to pass, first, and not run unless there is no other option. Stanley seems to have this trait so far. Give him protection...he will do some damage. He stands tall, doesn't frighten, and looks for several receivers.

I look forward to seeing Toren Young running the ball.

Pass the ball to the running backs, a lot...a gold mine to have RBs who are gifted receivers.

No surprises from what I was expecting. I figured we would start 3-0, although after reading more about North Texas and their passing game and our DB not doing so well against the Clowns I am really hoping we can stop them. Loosing wont start until next weekend.
