Actually, Iowa is ranked 58th

Statistical rankings love Wisconsin and I've not been able to figure out what it is they are doing that gets them statistical love.

It has to be the bunch of 30 point blowouts over bad teams they have.

Aside from the wins in the Big Ten they beat 2 other tournament teams (BYU and UNLV) and lost to 2 tournament teams (UNC & Marquette). Wisconsin has played 8 top 25 games. That may be the most in the country...

Right after Iona....

Damn you, Iona. Why do you have to have a name so similar to Iowa?

Have you ever freaked out when you caught an Iona score on the ESPN ticker out of the corner of your eye and thought: (1) crap... I didn't even know we had a game tonight; and (2) double crap... how did we lose to that POS team? (at least I used to have that double-crap moment).

I know, but to me that doesn't mean they should be top 10. They haven't beaten anyone either. I think their human ranking has them placed much better than the statistical rankings have them.

The statistical rankings do a good job for the most part but every once and a while I think they have a team slip through the cracks weighting blowout wins and a strong schedule more than wins over teams of that level. I would think the blowouts and the punishment a team gets for losing to certain teams cancels each other out somewhere in the formula.

That said, there is no perfect rating system and I'm pretty sure that Kenpom stated that he would actually have Wisconsin lower awhile back so as long as people admit when something in their system is flawed I don't really care much.

Oddly enough, i think a BCS system of computers and voters (vote for the top 50) would work better than RPI.

Remember when they had the March Madness on the Mt Dew caps, how ****** were you when you got Iona?

I think that was in a commercial on the radio. Someone was like "I got Iowa." And they were excited for some reason and then they were like "Wait a minute. Who the heck is Iona."
