Aaron ******* White

I'm starting to wonder what White's chances are at 1st team all big 10. Obviously Kaminsky is a shoe in, but the next best forward is....? Petteway has more points, but takes a ton more shots and doesn't do much else, and his team sucks.

It probably wont happen but would be pretty special if it did

If we win out and he averages 20 or more over the last 3, it's a possibility.

That is exactly what I was thinking tonight. I also see a toughness in Clemmons lately. He really is playing like an upperclassman with 4 assists and only 1 TO, and made all his FT.

That's 24 assists and 5 TOs over the last 7 games. I like the guard rotation and playing Gesell and Clemmons together.

I think his chances increase if Iowa goes 12-6...but he still has a shot if we are 11-7.

Yeah its a guard heavy league this year...Trimble, Russell, Newbill, Ferell, Blackmon, etc. White is currently 11th overall in scoring with only Kaminsky and Petteway ahead of him from Forwards.

White is currently behind only Kaminsky and Dawson in rebounds and believe it or not he's top 10 in steals.

I don't understand why White is only getting seven stars in this thread title.

In tonight's game, he definitely deserves ten stars.

I think he's a lock for 2nd team but would love to see him get 1st team.

Gotta give him huge props today. I've been critical all year about 4 things.

Won't shoot jump shots. No post game, doesn't finish with left hand and takes bad gambles on D.

Today he blew me away.

He got his standard alley oops, run outs and free throws but...

He was 3 of 4 on threes and never hesitated or pump faked once. Just shot when open.

Took a guy down low and put a nice half hook on him for a basket.

Took it to the hole left handed and finished with the left hand.

Solid discipline on D too, and in a tight game.

Excellent game out of White.

I get the whole play in game arguement. But if we lose in the round of 64 this year, it's going to sting just as bad and the arguement will just turn from "play in game" to "can't win a game".

That's just raising the bar though. We get in we're going to naturally want more.

Plus, for me, playing in the "real tournament" is meaningful because getting excited for Thursday and Friday games is all part of the mystique of the tournament. Not playing on those days last year made the tournament feel empty.

Also, Iowa hasn't won a tournament game in 14 years so breaking that streak would be nice too.

Aaron is playing like a guy who realizes this is the final stretch of his career and won't be denied. It appears that a switch has been flipped on in AW and he will do everything in his power to finish his career the best it can possibly be finished. He hasn't made shots from deep like this his entire career. This was one of those games where Illinois kept hanging around and making shots, we were making silly mistakes and not getting our needed production from Uthoff and Jok, and I thought we were going to blow it. Aaron White wouldn't allow it. That's what great players do. He is and always will be one of the greatest to wear the Black n Gold of all time.

Thank you Aaron White.

F***...you just made me realize that White only has one more game at Carver Hawkeye Arena remaining in his career :( :( :(

Unless they make the NIT I guess (sorry I had to)

My guess is that it's representative of a seven letter word that starts with "f" and ends with "ing". As in "Aaron ******* White!!!!"

Moves into 4th all time in scoring and only needs 54 more points to move into 2nd place.

He doesn't get enough credit IMO. He has had flaws yes, but imagine how many more points he'd have had he been playing with a top tier PG setting him up in good scoring positions the last 4 years. I personally think it would have made a huge difference.

THAT'S the Aaron White I've wanted to see all season. He was knocking down his shot and was very aggressive in driving to the hoop. He willed Iowa to a win last night and stepped up like a team leader. I hope this continues.

There were several times when it looked like we were headed toward one of our scoring droughts and instead of getting down, White took it on himself to get to the hole and get fouled or scored. That's some great senior leadership, he realized it was going to be on him last night and step up in a huge way. He closes out the year strong finish and he's got a real good shot at a 1st Team All B10 selection. Two 3rd Team selections and a 1st Team is a hell of a career.

He's now shooting 31.1% from 3 on the season. This isn't spectacular but he could easily get into the mid 30s if he makes 1 or 2 a game the rest of the way.

I think the best part was how hard he was going after rebounds. When a ball popped up into the air and came down into a crowd, it was him that went up and got it. He was on a mission.

It's just my gut but I have a feeling this is him just coming into his own even more and he's going to go on a heck of a run down the stretch here. He's a shoe in to get to 2nd all time in scoring. I think this team has a run in them and will shock someone they aren't "supposed" to in the dance and it'll be because White will be a monster.
