Aaron White - Please be true.

Last season's collapse was a TEAM effort ... And in re: to White's comment ... would be nice to see him get some of that agressiveness back.

Jok didn't collapse down the stretch and when he gets more PT this year people are gonna be mad at Fran for not giving him more minutes - it's a double edged sword though because Jok was a consensus top 5 player in his class and you don't want him to one and done the team.

ok4p, I think Jok would have had to use RDM's minutes and I believe that is the reason he didn't play, as much. I think JO was the better 3 pnt shooter in the context of knowing the offense and utilizing all of the screens to get him open. But, I also think there was a bit of "one and done" in Fran's mind. I agree with you, I think PJ can wind up being a star. If White does become proficient with the mid-range jumper, we have 3 guys who have legit star potential (White, JU & PJ). I am cautiously optimistic about next season and I think that based on how much other teams lost to graduation and leaving early, Iowa should be a solid 2nd place finisher, preseason, behind WUs. We need to take it to WUs next season.

I understand this is just PTL highlights, but look at how smoothe PJ is and how effortless his jumper is from 3pnt land. I believe this shows his potential and that he will be a big-time scorer. Again, I think White (utilizing mid-range jumper), JU and PJ could all three be 18 pnts per game guys, next season.

Jok will be very good by the time it's all said and done. I predict a decent this year followed by very good junior and senior years. He will score a lot

Reports out of the Lebron Camp is that Aaron White is playing well. Also Sam Dekker has grown to 6'9'' now. Niang has lost 25 lbs.

Thank you, JH. Interesting about Dekker. At 6'-7" he was a tweener, but if he really is 6'-9", he'll be a force, depending on whether the added heigth changes how he can play, or not.

This is absolutely ludicrous. Terran Petteway was the ONLY Big Ten play to average at least 18ppg las year, and you're saying Iowa could potentially have THREE players achieve that mark this season (all after graduating our only player who even came close to scoring that much)?

They might all three be the type of players who COULD average 18ppg if they were the focal point of the offense, but there's no way in hell they're all going to do it while playing in the same offense. There are only so many buckets to go around.

Jok looks like an All Star, and I do realize it is the PTL, but he is very quick and difficult to guard. His step back, fade away jump shot is almost unstoppable. His game under the boards is very good. I like the fact that he doesn't hesitate to shoot now. He will get a lot of time next season and will be a nightmare for the defenders. He is smooth as Japanese Silk, and dare I say it, at the risk of ridicule, Jordanesque in his hang time....

As OK said. he could have used more playing time last season, but the games were so close that there wasn't enough time to develop his skills, different story this season.....

More excited than ever. Am going to next Thursday games with my son.....

Nothing will stop me....

Arvada, I can see big numbers from all three players and decent scoring from other players. Jok at least 15 PPG, and Aaron and Jarrod 10-15 PPG on any given night....

I have been dreaming about the NCAA Tournament games for months now.....

If Jok's body recovers from his injuries than his ceiling is very high. He was a top rated recruit at Valley until he was hit with the injury bug. He will be a first/second team big ten player before he is done. I fell that Jok's skillset >>> Marble comparing their first year college skills. It will be fun to watch him progress. Hopefully the flashes he showed in the Tenn game progresses into something special.

I think it is the single biggest key to Iowa having success next year is AW's ability to generate offense besides getting put backs and garbage buckets.

I've been waiting for AW to take the lead since he was a freshman. He has leadership qualities. He needs to be more aggressive on offense. Even if he's not making a high percentage of his shots by shooting it will keep the defense from backing off and preventing his drives to the basket as well as they're being able to quickly double team the post. I think he can be a capable mid-range jumper. I'm not sure if he'll ever be a good 3 point shooter but by taking these shots it will open up the rest of his game.

The injury was like 4 years ago. Recovery has already occurred.

It wasn't that long ago and he is progressing just fine. What were you expecting him to do as a freshman?

I don't think anyone was expecting anything. But this idea that Peter Jok is going to suddenly become an explosive Big 10 athlete because some internet website said he was the best 13 year old basketball player in the country over half a decade ago is an optimistic one at best. Or that the knee injury is the sole reason for his average athleticism.

Jok, likely, is not going to have plus lateral quickness or explosion. He needs to tighten his handle to compensate--that is how Marble thrived despite not elite athleticism. Jok is a pretty good natural shooter that will require defenders to play his jumper, so if he can tighten his handle, he should be good enough to get buy defenders and create for himself and others.

Drew, here is a link to an article on PJ that describes the timeline of his knee injury: http://hawkcentral.com/2012/11/12/peter-jok-survived-war-injury-to-become-hawkeye-hoops-recruit/In the article it describes how PJ's doctor didn't think his knee would be 100% until the start of his 2012 season. When you consider that a player who has had knee surgery typically isn't back to his previous playing level until the second season after the surgery, that means PJ should have been back to himself his FR year at Iowa. When you consider he had to learn the college game and he didn't get much PT due to being behind RDM, I believe we will see way more athleticism that PJ showed his last two seasons in HS and last season. I understand what you say, I just think we won't "see" that he is back until this season. That's looking into a crystal ball on my part, but I believe it is entirely possible.

If Woodbury shows what he did in the Tennessee game, it will help White and the others immensely. That is key. And if Oglesby, Gesell and Jok shoot 38-45% from 3-land, White/Woody/Gabe/Uthoff benefit. Circular effect, yes, but Woody can make the biggest difference with decent improvement.
