Aaron White playing well at the tryouts

if everyone improves at least a little this off-season, we'll be a better team!

in all seriousness, White is such a fun player to watch, great to hear that he's playing well (and hopefully honing his craft).

I think they just need to score more this year and not give up as many points on defense. I think that will help.

Obviously it would be great to see both RDM and AW make the team. Though, I do wonder what happens to the psyche of the other if only one makes it.

It won't matter one bit.
Different position, different team composition that the coaches are looking for.

Completely independent of each other.

Aaron White was really energetic and made an impact around the rim. On a team that’s looking for additional size after presumed inclusions like Alex Kirk and Adrian Payne, an energy guy like White may be a nice piece to add as a change-of-pace off the bench.
From reports, Creighton’s Doug McDermott didn’t show particularly well last night at the opening practice, and he wasn’t all that good this morning, either. McDermott, who also can shoot very well from the perimeter and looks like a clear choice for the final roster, seemed to struggle with the physical, athletic play during the runs. Small sample size, etc., but if the trend continues, it’s worth filing away as Creighton moves into the Big East next season.

Guys who didn’t do (all that) much in the morning but were better in the afternoon included Notre Dame’s Eric Atkins, Minnesota’s Andre Hollins, Stanford’s Josh Huestis, Iowa’s Devyn Marble, Indiana’s Will Sheehey and Baylor’s Cory Jefferson (who had a dunk on the break that appeared to include a Euro step. Crazy.).

After an early-morning session on Wednesday, the staff will make final decisions on team a bit after 9:30 a.m. MDT, but the official release of the team probably won’t happen until closer to lunchtime. If you’re really eager to know, checking the players’ Twitter feeds may not be a bad option. Someone may squawk. If I were putting the team together, I’d probably start with the following guys (in alphabetical order): Spencer Dinwiddie, Yogi Ferrell, Luke Hancock, Tyler Haws, Rodney Hood, Sean Kilpatrick, Alex Kirk, Doug McDermott, Adreian Payne and Chasson Randle.

That would give you two small guards, two bigger guards, two wing shooters, an athletic wing/smallball power forward, a scoring power forward, another athletic big and an inside/outside big man. With the two remaining spots, you probably need another rebounder (Cory Jefferson?) and maybe another ballhandler/leader (could Kendall Williams sneak in) or shooter (pick someone). We’ll see if tomorrow’s workout makes any difference and how close this is to the actual roster. Should be interesting.
