Not trying to live in the past, but man would he thrive in this environment.

Do you think he has caught a game on tv or talked to a few former teammates and wondered what if?

Why would he thrive? He was your typical too short to play F and didn't have the handles to play G. Who would he start over this year?

PG - nope
Gatens / Marble - nope
May - nope
Basabe, McCabe - probably but then you may not get Basabe to come to Iowa if Fuller was still here. Plus I don't think he adds much, if anything, that these two guys don't already provide. Basabe is more athletic and McCabe is a better shooter.
Cole / Brommer / Archie - nope, he's too short.

I'm not happy that Fuller left but I don't think he would add a whole lot to this years team in terms of W / L.

He could easily be starting over Gatens/Marble or over Bas/McCabe. You're obviously jaded that he left...kid was a baller.

The guy is aggressive and can finish near the rim, a good rebounder for his size.

He was our impact player last year.

He's definitely missed.

Especially right now, he could start over Gatens/Marble. Just move May to the 2 guard and put Fuller at the 3/4, particularly if we wanted to go with a bigger lineup. Even if he came off the bench, he'd be able to contribute quite a bit.

If Fuller was here, you might see a lineup like this:

Cartwright
Gatens
May
Fuller
Basabe

Worst case scenario, at least Iowa would be getting some boards from its bigs.

I agree Spank-that lineup would be effective against the majority of teams. McCaff is doing a much better job of working the offensive through the post than Lick did and I really believe that Fuller would be having a big year. Obviously a true center would hurt this lineup but we currently have troubles matching up with a center so I think the boost in offensive rebounding would outweigh this.

I would say the best team we could put out there currently would be replacing Gatens with Marble and having McCabe as your 6th man.

I really like what Marble brings to this team. He has some issues out of the gate running the point, but he is extremely smooth and has a very nice skill set.

I never said I didn't want Fuller on this team but no way does he excel or add Ws. The position that he plays has Gatens, May, Marble, McCabe, Basabe. I see no major separation in skill sets between those five and Fuller. Fuller could certainly board better than our current bigs but the kid was listed at 6'6" and was closer to 6'4 than 6'7. Stormin', if Fran was going to go with a shorter lineup, he could do it now. Just insert Marble or McCabe where you have Fuller and voila, same lineup.

This is just lunacy. First he is every bit of 6-6, second he excelled in Licks offense, which didn't feature post entry passes, there is zero reason he wouldn't excel in the current one which does feature post entry passes.

Fuller was a match up nightmre by the end of last year. He was too big for a SF to handle on the block, and he was too quick for most PF's to deal with.

I would have to agree, I think Kelly would do great in this system. He can handle the ball well, run, shoot and drive to create not only his own shot but shots for other guys.

Jake would have thrived,no doubt about that. I will say that if we had the original recruiting class of Dairese Gary,Kelly and Cole as seniors on this team, with the rest of the cast, we would be downright dangerous.
Aaron is missed,no doubt. He was improving, and was becoming a bully in the paint. He is not perfect as a shorter power forward, with average quicks, but on this team? Big help. He played a ton of minutes his first two years,so his experience would help.
Not all big ten or anything, but with this ensemble approach, another piece would give Fran more options....oh well.

Fuller does keep in contact with some members of the team, FWIW. And yes, he would have been starting this season.

Not even close.
Fuller is a more seasoned veteran than those two. He has a more complete game, and is a better rebounder. Not the same lineup. Not in a million years.

And I am a fan of Marble and McCabe.

I think Fuller would have been all big ten this year if he had stayed. Look at the numbers he put up the second half of last year is Licks slow grind it out system. He would have really exploded this year if he had stayed.
