Aaron Craft NEVER fouls anyone. Ever

College BB's greatest defender gave up 22 pts to Marble. How is that even possible? Probably won't hear anything about that from the talking heads.

BTW, Iowa only had 10 turnovers today. That's impressive.

I don't mean to interrupt the hate but craft is a PG. He can guard some SG but Marble isn't a good matchup for him at 6'6" and he is giving up 4 inches.

I was hoping someone pointed this out. That's huge against anyone, but especially Mr. Contact, No Foul himself.

It's absolutely mind blowing what he gets away with. I really don't understand how he is allowed to just hack and get away with it constantly. Clark Kellogg made a great point after Craft was called for holding Marble, saying that Craft was so shocked because he's always doing that but never gets called.

His offensive game has shown no improvement from last year, he's an average at best offensive pg and had some huge free throw misses today.

That's exactly why he does it. It's no different than what the Seahawks do in their pass defense. Foul on every play because you know the refs won't call you on it every time and the advantage gained on the no-calls is worth a few penalties.

Yeah I agree with you and I would want our guys to do the same thing if they could get away with it too, but how the hell did we get to this point where one guy can get away with so much?

It's a vicious cycle. He gets away with it in a game and so everybody says he's such a great defender. Because everybody says he's such a great defender, he gets away with it in games.

Maybe this loss will help break the cycle.

Superman can guard anyone. He absolutely mugs people and because he's been labeled a "great defender" they never call the ball slap reach in foul on him. It's uncanny. There was one time in this game where Marble took the ball to the basket against Craft and was fouled going to his left, he did a spin to his right hand and Craft came around and fouled him again, then Marble went up to shoot a floater and Craft chest bumped him for a foul, then hit his hand for another. I rewound it during a time out and there were indeed four fouls on one play. I'm not kidding, go back and watch the tape.

What he gets away with is unbelievable. I don't get it.

Why does this matter to the discussion? Marble scored the first possession and after that (except for transition plays) Matta had Craft guarding him. Matta must not have cared about the height differential. Also, most of the shots he took over Craft, me missed. Shots Marble made, were slashing going to the hoop. In other words, Marble showed he's quick enough to get past Craft. Craft is a master at fouling without getting called, if he gets called for a few, everything changes. He'd be an average pg with above average effort/hustle. The play he made to save the ball from going out of bounds was impressive. His overall defense is a product of no-calls, IMO.

I don't think I've ever seen a player that slaps down on the ball and not get called for a foul like him. Ever. It really is incredible.

All I'm saying is that there are a lot of people staying Craft is not a good defender which I believe is inaccurate and Marble is a bad matchup due to the height advantage. Craft can guard a lot of SG but Marble isn't one of the taller ones in the league.

That's why it's relevant to the discussion.

I really wish someone would go through and catalog how many fouls he got away with in his career. Perhaps make a video of them all also.

It wold be more like a feature film length than a video..... not sure how long a you tube video can be

I will admit that today I saw him get a couple steals or poke aways from solid move-your-feet defense. But that was only a couple and he should have already fouled out by then.

Craft is a good defender that pushes it way past the point of good defense. The reason why he gets away with it, is when he gets called for a foul, he eases up on the mugging and uses his feet and position to defend. After a few possessions, it's back to pushing the limits. That's what he feels he has to do for his team because the truth is, even if you play great LEGAL defense, the other team will run you through screens and rub you off your game in the post, to the point it can be overcome. And Craft is very aggressive when the opposing player is weak or doesn't have a good handle on the ball. Fumble the ball around or lose control, just for a fraction of a second and he plows in, slapping and grabbing for the ball. The refs don't call much in those instances either. It's frustrating to watch, especially when we are on the wrong end of those calls.

My personal favorite no call was Craft's attempt to block Gessel's three point attempt and clearly raked his arm and smashed in to him knocking him over.

The real proof of how much of a FRAUD Craft is as a player will be when he is struggling to make it in the D league next year.
