A monster is coming..........

Wagner when asked about his roll said something along the lines of being ok with playing less if it meant winning more. Of course we all expect these guys to talk the talk - but this seems like a confident bunch.

If all the returning players make improvements over last year and the freshmen can make significant contributions then this should be a very fun year for Iowa basketball.

I expect the freshman to make big contributions - but the luxury is I don't think it completely hinges on that for success. Garza will no doubt make an impact tho.

Losing Peter Jok shouldn't hurt as badly as it looks on paper. It sorta reminds me of the year after Devyn Marble graduated. Iowa actually improved and finished 12-6 in the big ten, got an at-large bid and stomped out Davidson before running into the Gonzaga buzzsaw.

Of course, that was Aaron White's senior year and they were stacked with upper classmen, but the idea is the same. Marble's senior year he averaged 13 shots per game and 17 points. Jok's senior year he averaged 14.6 shots per game and 20 points. Very similar production from a guard. So this season that scoring will spread out more to the rest of the team and there will be more overall weapons.

I hate to be the spelling police, but I’ve seen you post that several times. It’s role, not roll.

Okay sorry, continue thread.

I'm very disappointed to find that you have very good grammar and spelling and are a much smarter, better person then myself. I ... just... don't care.

I don't think this team misses Jok at all. Not to say he wasn't the best shooter I've ever seen at Iowa, he was. I just don't think this team would miss any scorer. Scoring won't be an issue -Jok was a scorer who played bad defense and was turn over prone, while it's not a plus to lose him, it's also not a negative for a team with this type of fire power.

Don’t get sensitive. I misspell plenty on this site (although half the time I blame that on the choppiness of the mobile site).

I don’t worry too much about spelling here but for some reason seeing roll that many times I decided to let you know. Mostly meant as a joke. Continue with roll if you’d like.

I dunno if the hype machine could get much higher than it is for both Cook and this team. To me Moss is the X factor. If he turns into a guy that can both hit open shots and go to the hole not just effectively but consistently look out. Iowa's ability to have big guys (plural not just Cook) make plays from the block and pass out to shooters is just going to make them undefensible. You can't press them, play zone or play man to man on them. It's almost a pick your poison against us situation and hope our shooters are off.

I kind of felt that I playfully responded.. ya know - with saying "rolls were delicious" ... and saying you were "smarter and better then me".. maybe that didn't come across as sarcasm and came across as sensitive. Honestly - I don't care. I looked all over for the over use and miss use of ROLL and didn't see that either but... hey, if you feel better, that's what matters.

One thing that gets overlooked quite a bit is Jok's rebounds. He actually finished 2nd on the team in rebounds last year somehow, just behind Baer. Hopefully with Garza/Nunge and a healthy Pemsl the rebounds get figured out a little better

He was an under rated rebounder, again, not something I worry about though with this team. I just don't see it being a huge loss with the pieces we return.

What I worry about with this team is defense, 2 guard play, back up PG and C.

That's very true. For all Joks deficiancies on the defensive end he did go grab boards. Iowa's bigs all have to do a better job than last year at it.
