A.J. Derby the #2 QB

Second coming of Mr. Timothy Tebow. The college version of course. Hard to argue with Derby's skill set and physical tools. I'm happy for the kid.

Surprising, yet very nice to see. He'll be like Iowa's Tebow, without the Jesus.

I didn't know it was possible to say Tebow's name without mentioning Jesus.

Example 1: Jesus, can we please stop with the Tebow comparisions.

Example 2: Not another post mentioning Tebow, Jesus does it ever end.

Jesus or no Jesus, hopefully he can be a model citizen like Tebow. Not sure why you are taking a shot at Tim for having that belief. I'd be more concerned about the athletes living in a drug house without any values.

I don't know why people dog Tebow. Not really his fault that ESPN thought he was the next coming of well Jesus. I respect him for his beliefts. However, I don't think he was as amazing of a QB that ESPN/SEC thought he was. That said he was still really good and would love it if Derby was able to play like he did.

I'm sure AJ will be a model citizen and a player that the team, University, and fans can be proud of.

What I, and most others don't like about Teblow, is that he makes it a big part of everything that he does. He wears it painted on his face to push his beliefs on others. The only thing he should be pushing is to be a good person, regardless of faith, and to make those HomeTouchRuns and to lob a duck into the end zone.

I would bet money that AJ is a far better passer than Tebow will ever be.

I think what he means is Tebow without the OVER-THE-TOP Jesus stuff. To be fair, that's not all Tebow's fault, as ESPN chose to hype it up. But it did get annoying after awhile.

How is that pushing it on somebody? He never says you have to believe it to. He just tells you what he believes. If you wear a hawkeye T-shirt are you pushing that on someone? No. Why do you get to determine what he says. Last I recalled there is a freedom of speech and religion in this country and he has all the rights in the world to talk about his faith.

you are over-the-top here.

'push his belief on others'?

can you cite one example of him pushing his belief on others?

I'm getting a kick out of this from you and your Hawkeye Jesus Avatar. (Love it, btw)

Still don't see it as pushing his beliefs. It is a really bad choice of haircuts, and I don't know what it is supposed to symbolize honestly. If he's saying he's like Christ then it is really wrong, but I don't really get it.

I think if he wants to talk about his religion, that's fine. My issue was never with him. He's clearly a good guy who treats others well. My issue is/was how the media just made a sensational story out of it.

He is a good human being because he's a good human being. The promos for Jesus are not so necessary, in my opinion. I'm not offended by it, but I certainly don't find it compelling.

Jesus, if omniscient, omnipotent, and ominipresent, doesn't need a marketing team.

Pretty sure that was part of rookie hazing. Or should he not have done that? Ask Dez Bryant how that went.

I know one person who really does push her beliefs on other people. When we were in high school, taking a science class with her was brutal. Almost everyday there was some kind of debate with religious overtones. She'd lecture you if you were in sin all the time.

Meanwhile, she was two-faced to just about everybody, and slept around while she was dating my best friend.

People like her just p*ss me off. Tebow has had that aspect pumped up by ESPN, by no fault of his own.

You are the only person injecting religion into this discussion. The topic was about the style of play between the two and you took a shot and changed it to that topic. Nobody on here or Tebow himself are attacking anyone for believing anything else.

I'm also not sure what relevance his avatar has to do with this discussion. Are you trying to discredit his legitimate question due to a picture?

His hair cut was part of the rookie hazing that goes on all over NFL camps every year. His teammates chose that hair cut for him. Also, what on earth does this hair cut have to do with a crown of thorns? Its called a Roman Tonsure and dates back over 1000 years. No one is really sure of its original meaning, but to say that it is a "Crown of Thorns" is pure projection.
