A.J. Derby the #2 QB

Pretty sure that was part of rookie hazing. Or should he not have done that? Ask Dez Bryant how that went.

You responded to several things that made no sense or I didn't say.

1. I said I had no idea what the picture was about.

2. If he did it to say he was like Christ, that would be wrong, as no one is like Christ.

3. I don't really think it is funny, but I didn't know why it was done.

4. I think it's a little different than not carrying a guy's pads

I am so sick of A.J. Derby trying to convince me to become a mormon on ESPN! A.J., GO BACK TO FLORIDA WHERE ALL YOU MORMON TERRORISTS BELONG!

I know one person who really does push her beliefs on other people. When we were in high school, taking a science class with her was brutal. Almost everyday there was some kind of debate with religious overtones. She'd lecture you if you were in sin all the time.

Meanwhile, she was two-faced to just about everybody, and slept around while she was dating my best friend.

People like her just p*ss me off. Tebow has had that aspect pumped up by ESPN, by no fault of his own.

And one time at band camp....

I'm getting a kick out of this from you and your Hawkeye Jesus Avatar. (Love it, btw)

He actually wore a crown of Thorns haircut.

This was rookie hazing at Denver. The veterans gave him that haircut, I really don't think he made the conscious decision to cut his hair and ask for the "Friar Tuck"

Trust me, I know that it wasn't his choice and was part of the rookie hazing.

I just don't like Tebow is all this comes down to and his insistence to put his religion first. Too much like a bible thumper for me, especially with how the media sensationalizes it.

And Cyclone17, I know that his efficiency was high, but that was due to most of his passes being short ones that are highly efficient for what they are, as well as the threat that he would take off and run at any time.

Now, I think that AJ, in a pro-style offense and using alot of play action, rollouts, bootlegs can be very dangerous as the corners will have to keep an eye on him to shut down those edges when he rolls out, or he may pick up 12 yards each time, and when they do close down they'll leave an opening for the WR to break a big one on a pass.

I think of him more like a Drew Tate, but faster. Of course, I'm not sure if he's at that level with his passing yet, but so far it sounds good and I am excited to see him in the game on Saturday.

I'll summarize for the group:

He has not provided a good reason for hating Tebow.

He has not provided a good explanation for why Derby will be a better passer than Tebow.

God doesnt care about who wins a football game and it is very annoying that athletes thank him after they won something.

Depends what they thank him for. If they thank him for their abilities I think that is good. If they thank him for playing a good game or winning, well yeah, I'm with you.

So who starts 3 years from now? Derby, Rudock(sp?), or the guy is not on campus yet.

I'm an ISU fan but I'd have to say Derby. He's already #2 ahead of Weinke which is impressive and he came 1/2 year early so he has an even bigger head start. Add that in with him being a pretty damn impressive athlete and I think he is the guy as a junior

He's ahead of Weinke, but it's not by much, and there's a BIG dropoff after Vandy.

Rudock is going to have had 2 years on campus to learn the system, and he's one of the most polished players coming out of high school that I've seen. He can already make just about all of the throws, and he's VERY mobile.

Gun to my head, I'm saying Rudock. But it's ridiculous to actually say Rudock OR Derby should start in three years, at this point. It's just too far away.

wow, some of you guys sure know how to ruin a thread.

i'm excited to hear derby has improved so much. sounds like he has made the right choice to stick it out at QB

Actually, we won't know that until the battle between Derby and Rudock is settled in a couple years.

I was just throwing out the Derby/Rudock thing I did not want to go down the Tebow road. TM is right it is 3 years down the road, however it is fun speculate on Aug. 30th.

I'm sure AJ will be a model citizen and a player that the team, University, and fans can be proud of.

What I, and most others don't like about Teblow, is that he makes it a big part of everything that he does. He wears it painted on his face to push his beliefs on others. The only thing he should be pushing is to be a good person, regardless of faith, and to make those HomeTouchRuns and to lob a duck into the end zone.

I would bet money that AJ is a far better passer than Tebow will ever be.

Have you seen Derby throw? Tebow is a better currently.
