A future Iowa Bowl in State?

I could see a bowl played in Chicago, Green Bay, Kansas City or St. Louis but I don't see Iowa ever getting a bowl game. If Detroit can host a scuzzy bowl I don't see why St. Louis couldn't have one in the dome. I would like to bring these elite SEC teams away from home during bowl season and line them up in the cold of the midwest.

I had forgotten about that. That wad a junior college event however. The more I think about it I think modifications would have to be made to increase the seating capacity at the uni dome. I am not sure how many people are trolling me but they do have a valid point with the capacity that we will have to work on.

Capacity might not be an issue depending on the conference ties you get. For example a MAC #6 versus a Sun Belt #4 would not even fill the dome.

Heck if the Bahama's can have a bowl game (starting next year) then why can't Cedar Falls?

I don't see this idea being that far fetched ! Hy-Vee would do this if it was profitable. - So could we just call it the Iowa Bowl and play it in Arizona ?. If we wanted to get creative we play the game at the Events Center in Des MO'nez and we play it Arena football style.

The travel to Cedar Falls would be awesome. Fly into Cedar Rapids or Davenport. Drive up to Cedar Falls in the middle of Winter. Yep, if you build it, they will come.

Oh, and you could get a couple warm weather teams. That way those southern folks can enjoy Iowa in the Winter. There are few places anyone could want to be, then Iowa in the Winter.

Believe it or not but the town next to Cedar Falls has an airport, they could fly into Waterloo.

Maybe we could get the "Fort Dodge Natural Ice Bowl" going. I just dont know if they would take Iowa or not.

Won't happen. The schedule for the area already has the motel filled on weekends with fans in town for the
wrastlin, MMA, roller derby, and the minor league outdoor hockey team that we're bidding on.

We could have a bowl if we had a suitable dome. So we just need a couple billion dollars and a if we build it, they will come attitude. :)

While we're building the dome for our prize-destination bowl game, don't forget to put in a genuine, bonafide, electrified, six-car monorail. Money well spent, imo.

I looked back at past Iowa's bowl game. 9 times they have played teams in their home state. 14 times the opponent was closer to the bowl. Only 3 times was Iowa closer. So I was thinking why can't there be a bowl in the state of Iowa? There are a few potential sponsors, John Deere, Hy Vee, Mediacom, Case IH would all be possibilities. A good location might be the Uni Dome. This would put a bowl in Iowa! The last thing that would need would be a Big. 10 tie in. With the expansion a spot might be available. What do you all think?

A winter bowl game in the state of Iowa.... Um, yeah.

Not to mention, bowl games are pretty much in bigger cities.. Iowa has no major metropolitan area (sorry, I don't count Des Moines as "major").

I can think of a few dumber posts. What about those guys that picked Western Michigan to win over Iowa? Chances of a bowl game in Cedar Falls > WMU win over Iowa.

Boise, Idaho has a bowl so I guess it could happen but not in Cedar Falls.

Wife, daughter and I visited Boise this past summer. Nice city, but not quite as impressed.
The blue turf was a nice thing when they were trying to be noticed. BSU football is now noticed, so they should just change it to traditional green.

Also, if your field cannot put a bowl logo on the 50 yard and team names in the end zone, you do not deserve a bowl game.

ohhhh, now your talking!

So the new Corn Bowl, sponsored by HyVee and the Iowa Corn Growers Association (for the trophy of course), will be in the UNI Dome and Cedar Falls is getting a monorail. Anything else?
