A few thoughts on IOWA Basketball for 2017-18

Moss has shot it well in both the PTL and overseas. I'm thinking it's a very good sign to come because we know he's an elite slasher on the break and he's good defensively. If he can add being a shooter and get better/more aggressive driving in the half court, he'd be a complete player.

But I can't agree he's a better shooter than JBo who did it against B1G competition and in big time moments. Moss is and will be a better overall player than Jordan, but in my opinion I don't think he'll ever be a better shooter.

I think he could be an elite slasher. I'm reserving judgement until I see it in the half court offense. But he's shown it in transition for sure.

It's possible that Moss, Ellingson and JBo, are equally talented shooters. BUT JBo is a gamer. He is so good at picking his spots and seeing the floor. He takes shots when he should and passes the ball all over the court when he should. He has a quick release. Having the ball in his hands puts so much pressure on the D. If his guy sags just a little from 28' on in, he will make you pay. That's hard on the opposing teams pg. That and his passing ability is why the ball in his hands more is a positive. The pick n roll w him is brutal. Enjoy fellas!

Iowa has the makings of a very good couple of years. We will see if Fran can coach to the next level.

Will be interesting to watch how an Iowa team that is the most athletic in a long time fits in Kriener first and J Bo 2nd into the scheme. Those two are the least athletic. J Bo I imagine will fit in at as high of level or more than last year. Kriener I'm wondering if he'll be to Iowa what Tommy La Stella fits into the Cubs.

Kriener will be a pleasant surprise this season. He showed some very good moves on the European Trip in the third game I believe. He appears much more confident and sure-footed. Of course, he must contain the turnovers, but he will be a factor this season, in my most humble opinion.....

I might be wrong, but I feel Kriener will turn out to be a much different player than most of us expected.

This iowa team is going to be the most balanced both offensively and defensively than we have seen in a lot of years. Offensively there isn't a spot on the floor where they can't be dangerous. Defensively, they have more athleticism combined with experience than we have seen in a long time. Garza and Nunge might be lacking in experience, but they have guys that can fill the gap. I think Garza and Nunge will be pretty good defensively.
