A couple big recruits this weekend

Even better, hawkfarmer. I'll tell you what, if this kid signs with the Hawks, we will have the best competition at that position that we've ever had. We have close to that, now, but this kid looks like "just add water" and he's ready to go.

it is Iowa, so it has to be Steak, Barbeque Spare Ribs, Thick Pork Chops and a side dish of Corn on the Cob, slathered in butter... and 7-layer Jello!

We are currently mid 30s in team rankings so these would be nice gets. And while I know ranking don't mean everything, Id rather be 1st than 37th.

Scout - 37th
247 - 48th
Rivals - 50th
ESPN - not listed as they are outside the Top 40

....just for the record.

"I'm taking an official visit to Iowa and maybe one or two more," he said. "And I might take another visit to RU." - Tyler Wiegers

.............just reading the tea leaves here but the invitation to close this deal now is there for Iowa.

It is crazy how well this staff had recruited this year considering last years record. I'm hoping the renew emphasis in recruiting continues to pay dividends.

I would think the change in offensive playcalling would help with skill position players. I mean telling a kid, look we want to go up tempo and spread out the defense but you have seem our games we lack playmakers, we need you. That has to help. Defensively, obviously the staff is blitz more and going a little more man to man coverage so that has to help too.

Exactly, then show them film of DJK and McNutt. When we have playmakers at WR we use them. Both those guys saw the ball a lot, and had chances every game to make plays.

What the hell does that even mean?

Hope we aren't getting our hopes up for no good reason. Other than the Iowa recruits, this is mostly a mediocre class. Most of the other kids are not highly recruited and one who was, the star RB commit, appears to have grade issues. Landing just 2 or 3 of these more highly recruited kids would make me feel a lot better about this class. Yes Iowa is good at development but we need more talent too.
Would love to land Weigers, Jennings, Wallace and/or Okorafor. And since one RB recruit played defense most of his senior season and the other may never make it to campus I would like a fast RB.

Maybe Ferentz's old, stodgy, traditional QB has become a draw. With fewer and fewer programs running a pro-style offense, maybe HS QBs are spending time looking around at teams like Iowa that run offenses that the NFL still favors. Just a theory.

I think there is some truth to this. This also helps in recruiting TE. And finding FB walkons.
