A Break For Iowa?

Trey Burke lists Cincy, Iowa and Nebraska as his only "high" interest schools. Nebraska picked up a fairly high rated PG yesterday...does this take Nebraska out of the picture and allow Burke to shift his focus at only Iowa and Cincy?

I wouldn't be surprised if he does with the connections that are there, but he has neither listed right now. When he committed to PSU last year, OSU and WVU picked up some players that can "replace" Burke if you will. If either start making a run at him since he has decommitted from PSU, I think he will end up there, for one simple reason, they are better and have a chance to win right away. I do not think PSU is really in the running any longer given the coaching situation, if PSU is not good this season, Ed is gone. Burke's father says Cincy is No. 1 right now, but that is always subject to change, just like people's opinion.

"Trey Burke lists Penn State, Michigan & Cincinnati as his favorites according to @Ohiohshoops." ----Twitter from a week or so ago.

And on July 30th, Burke's dad listed Cincy as the "heavy favorite." It will be an uphill battle to get Burke, to say the least.

Article posted August 5th says, "Trey Burke (6'0/2011) of Columbus Northland has listed Cincinnati, Iowa, and Penn State has his favorites."

It goes on to say that Burke's father is "is big on Cincinnati, Penn State, and Michigan."

So, to me it sounds like Trey likes Cincy, Iowa and PSU, but his dad favors Cincy, PSU and Michigan.

Hopefully Trey chooses the Hawkeyes.

On the front page of Rob's site it says that the staff is trying to get Burke in for a visit for the week of ISU.

I am strongly committed to the belief that it is important for fathers to be intimately involved in the lives of their children. However, you never hear comments about meddling mothers with respect to college sports like you hear about meddling fathers.

What bothers me about the father in this situation is that he is the AAU coach as well. It is all too often that when the fathers play the dual role, they think it is them being recruited and not their child and lose site of what is best for that child. A lot of the AAU coaches in the big time AAU programs are about themselves and what they can get out of it.
It bothers me that the father says what he does, but it doesn't seem to match what the child has to say. At some point they must be on the same page, but to what point of view, the kid or the dad?
When parents got over involved, it is bad news and what is really best for the kid is thrown out the window.
