This might only be interesting to me but thought I'd share anyway. Just to give you an idea of the amount of money in college football...that is the average gross price of a single :)30) commercial in ABC's College Football game of the week on Saturday evenings. Think about that figure and when you're watching the games on Saturday night...each commercial break is worth $250,000+. Not bad.

Sorry I don't have a link to this information that I can post/share. The figure comes from an subcscription-based industry article from AdAge.

surprised its not more do you have any figures for big ten network?

Sorry, I wish I did. The article only listed what the major broadcast networks are getting for the primetime broadcasts in the 2010-2011 season. NBC's Sunday Night Football and FOX's American Idol are the most expensive programming with each :)30) commercial averaging over $415,000 per.

Not to nitpick, but if the average commercial break in 2 minutes, that would be 4 commercial spots....making the number more like $400k. It starts to be easy to see why ESPN/ABC et. all pay the billions they do for college/pro sports to be played on their stations.

This is really interesting. Makes sense and it's the reason college football is such a powerful business. Keep the info coming.
