9-9 Monkey finally off Kirk's back

Always been a big KF fan, supporter, "apologist", etc. But have always admitted his record vs. Isu was the overall worst mark against him.

Now, let's win 9+ this year keep rolling.

after the balance of power in the state shifted back in Iowa's favor in the early 2000's he should have started winning 9 out of 10 games. But 42-3 is a promising start for a new streak of dominance. ISU's back to their old selves again, no reason to ever lose to them from here on out.

We've been down this road before. I thought Iowa would take control of the series after '04 and it didn't quite happen. Thought the same thing after '10 season. The ISU program is so bad right now, hopefully KF can take advantage.

He's .500 against ISU, The only Division I program as bad is Kansas. I wouldn't exactly say the monkey is off his back.
Last night's beatdown should be the standard. I loved it.

We actually have for the most part. Kirk went 0-4 to start off his tenure at Iowa vs ISU. Since then he is 9-5.

The reason Clown fans like to go back 20 years, is because it includes a 5-0 stretch they had, but that is fading, fading, fading into history.

Clown fans like to include their 5 straight wins but don't want the 15 straight that Iowa won. Kirk is 6-3 in the last 9 years and 9-5 in the last 14. It is so rare that ISU succeeds in anything they revert back to ancient history.

I was there for some of those obliterations during the 15yr streak. Glorious memories. IIRC Iowa also had some amazing win streaks against Wisky and NW during the Fry regime. I would luv for Kirk to repeat some of those streaks. I'm starting to get verklempt thinking about it.

I would luv for Kirk to retire with a 10 game win streak against the Clones.

JMO but I think the balance of power has been in Iowa's favor since 1981. Even during those down years Iowa had better resources; better coaches; better players and a better history. The only reason they appeared to climb back into contention is because ISU placed all of their marbles on one game a year. Yesterdays game makes me hopeful Kirk finally has learned that he can't treat this game like every other and expect to dominate the series. Hayden made it a point to own recruiting in-state. And he knew dominance in this series was paramount in that effort.

Yes, next year will be a big game in Ames. ISU will still be very, very weak, and Iowa should be nearly as strong depending on how our new quarterback starts out.

Could be setting up for a nice 4 year + win streak.

With CJB at the helm in 2014 it's 4 outa 4 . . . but I digress
Do you really believe CJ was ready to be the starter coming out of fall camp in 2014? He wasn't even close yet with his pre-snap reads and progressions. etc. I saw it with my own eyes and heard what Davis was chewing his butt about. He didn't play well in his 1st start against Purdue, but it was at that point that he figured out what it took to be a starter and started maturing rapidly. You can woulda, coulda, shoulda, all you want, but that is the reality of it.....

LAME.

Uuuuuh. You may not realize this but I like to brag about Iowa's history. If Hawkeyes can talk history . . . why can't any other fans do it?

Lots of players play before they're "ready". His "not ready" was still better than Rudock's ready. And CJ played a hell of a lot better against Purdue than Jake played against ISU, Ball State, Nebraska, and probably everyone else. There were 7 drops that game so your memory clearly sucks and you're going off stats.

Bingo. only a clone would suggest that ISU has had anything resembling an edge in football power since the early 1980s
