9-3 season still alive!!

9-3 is very realistic now, I would even say expected.

But a big bowl may be out of reach. If I had to guess, Iowa is still headed to the Holiday Bowl.

OSU, PSU, Mich and the Wisc/Minn winner will all be ahead of Iowa in the bowl pecking order.

I think a bowl would rather take a 9-3 Iowa over a 10-2 Minnesota but that might just be me.

Nebraska's offense looked great yesterday. Martinez is starting to look like we expected him to look, and Mills at RB is the real deal. We sleep on him and we'll get burned.

I'm expecting a high scoring game. Frost is going to have them lathered up for us. Our offense better be ready to put up points for a complete 60 minutes.

Absolutely but the BT now has say in where teams go. If Minnesota can win one of their last 2 games they are still West Champs and I think they are Rose Bowl bound with or without a win over tOSU.

One thing that nobody really mentions with this team is the injuries. Alaric going down early and wasn’t close to 100% against Michigan in that debacle. All the injuries on the interior Oline. Smith going down. No OJ yesterday. The biggest might have been Welch missing the Wisconsin game.

I know every team has injuries but it seems we’ve had our fair share and some untimely ones.

He doesn't get talked about but schott was a big loss. Things have been pretty calm in the interior with him in there. He would have made a difference against Michigan and PSU. Throw banwart in there too.

And welch being out against Wisconsin was a killer for us.

Remember we got away with all the secondary losses against ISU.

Tough year for injuries.

I’d think the citrus would take 9-3 Iowa over 10-2 Minnesota, especially if they get beat 55-17 in the big ten championship game.

I really don't see Iowa stumbling in the next two games. Welch was incredible yesterday. He is just a vital cog to that defense as it's clear Doyle and Campbell just aren't ready. If the defense is healthy, you are going to make both Illinois and Nebraska one dimensional and I just don't think Martinez and the Illinois QB are good enough to beat us.

Morgan may be the most accurate passer in the B10...and everything is on time and right on the numbers. He was really impressive yesterday. No way Martinez and the Illinois QB can make the throws he made consistently.

The big thing, and it's no secret...you have to put pressure on Nate Stanley...otherwise he's damn good at picking you apart. Minnesota was gambling the entire second half and Brian Ferentz wet the bed...or his QB did...I'm not sure which. Ever think about a screen or draw Brian? Minnesota was attacking the edges with extra people...the middle of the field was open for a draw or short slant to a slot or back...or a screen. Nothing. That was disappointing.

Agreed. If Minnesota goes to the BTT game and loses and Ohio State goes to the CFP then Minnesota will almost have to go to the Rose Bowl. Likely play Oregon or Utah in a weak PAC 12

Injuries are not an excuse because everyone has them. Iowa needed to do a better job of scheming around it and they simply didn't do that. Michigan has just now found their footing offensively and PSU didn't do anything for nearly an entire first half. You have to take advantage of that situation, regardless.

21 is great?

Everyone here is way too confident that we're going to take down Illinois. They are on a 4 game winning streak and took down Wisconsin. They're finding ways to win and we've been looking for ways to lose. If we don't bury them in the first half, I'm concerned how we'll hold up in the second. The Spartans were up 31-10 going into the 4th quarter before giving up 27 points to lose 37-34. Add to that the fact that they've had an extra week to prepare for us and this has all the makings of a classic let down against a feisty bowl eligible team that we're supposed to beat.

I don't believe it's possible for Minny to finish 10-2 AND lose the CCG. Most likely they would be 11-2 with wins over Wiscy and PSU. That should be good enough for Minny to go the Rose Bowl. 9-3 Wiscy, 10-2 PSU would then take the Citrus & Outback.

In terms of pecking order Mich should get the Holiday and Iowa the Gator, but Iowa can't go back to the Gator, so they will probably flop it and have Iowa go to the Holiday and Mich to the Gator.

It is no excuse, it is an explanation. There is a distinct difference. Who knows if we had won those games or we would have gotten blown out had those players play, that is fact. Saying we didnt win because of the injuries is an excuse.

However, saying that our linebacker play suffered with welch being hurt is an explanation. And saying we didnt stop the run against wisconsin was because our linebackers couldn't shed blocks is also a fact. So then it is safe to say that the reason welch is a starter is because he does a better job of shedding blocks and that our run defense suffered because he wasn't in there.

Look, I get it, a coach will always say injuries are no excuses, next man in. But there is a reason that second man wasn't the first man and the third man wasn't the second man.

This lack of coaching flexibility surprises you?

If you lose to Illinois, you have received your report card.
