7 to 12 wins - my challenge to you

lost a veteran QB
lost an Outland winner
lost andrew donnal to the draft
lost a veteran running back
and recruiting classes in previous years hovered around 50th or lower in the rankings

so how does Iowa go from 7 wins to 12 wins???????????

It would be easy to say it was in 2015, Iowa did not play OSU, PSU, Mich or MSU in the regular season.

Except the weird part was that the 2014 schedule was a mirror image of 2015 schedule, except that every game on the road was at home and vice versa.

Actually, I think the big reason given is that Iowa changed its practice schedule that year and made Friday it's off day instead of Sunday. Or something like that.

Plus the players were given some book to read, and it totally changed their attitude, or maybe how they did things, or how they thought about things, or something like that.

And, not having the running game hampered by trying to put a square peg in a round hole.

Weisman was a ton of fun to watch, and a great Hawk, but he could not make the cuts or moves required of a RB in our scheme, and it showed once guys who did have that ability began to get the lion's share of the touches.

I also remember, not sure who, saying in August that Iowa's recruiting was at a 10 year low (morehouse or miller or Dochterman). CJB was the one glimmering hope. Kirk went back to the drawing board in the offseason and evaluated everything. Hired a consultant, looked at how he showed up in pressers, how they practiced, everything. The results were good. They've held steady since then.
