Looking back at this, the real news is Meyer finding a pulse. We need him to get beyond the Brommer track by his sophomore season. He doesn't have to be all-B1G, but he will need to provide strong bench minutes without a massive drop-off from the guy he is replacing.
While it is impossible to make a direct one-to-one translation from PTL to NCAA, there has never been a player who failed to pretty much dominate PTL who then was an effective B1G player.
Meyer is a guy that just has time to work on his game. I don't expect to see a whole lot of minutes for him until Basabe/McCabe are gone and I don't see that as a bad thing at all.
From what I read about him in HS, he seems to be a perimeter guy that does play hard and will put effort in on the boards. Now, just continue to develop and I could see a nice high/low game with him and Woodbury in a couple of years, especially after White graduates.
Looking at what I have seen in highlights from Uthoff, this same scenario will not be all bad for Meyer, gives him time to practice against good player and also play as hard as he can against good players in practice and just get better at the same time. The longer he doesn't have to play a big role, the more he can prepare himself against Iowa's better players at the moment. Going full speed all the time in practice will translate into going full speed all the time in games.
Kyle has plenty of time to develop and get himself ready for a big role for Iowa, something Brommer never was afforded. That isn't to say I think Brommer would have ever been all world.
