4 - Star OT decommits from MN

Everybody on 247 is predicting Farniok to Nebby. Either kid would be a good get but if Farniok falls through, Foster would be a nice recruit to fall into Iowa's lap.

According to 247 Iowa has not officially offered but is listed as a school of interest. I'm guessing Iowa has been holding out for Farniok and Foster has been committed to Minny until now. If the kid has serious interest in Iowa, this could give Iowa some leverage with Farniok to make a decision. Could be a win win for Iowa.

Why would anyone want to go to Nebraska? They will probably fire there coach again in a year or two.

My thoughts as well. Maybe they promised him a bigger house than they gave Armstrong.
You could be on to something, also the thought of being able to commit crimes without being punished could sound appealing to the young man.

That being said, Farniok does have a scholarship to Florida State. Also has an offer to MSU and although he still may do a few nights in jail in East Lansing, he wouldn't miss any game time.

To state the obvious; I think we are seeing the disadvantage to locking in the recruiting class so early. Who knew this was going to be such a great year? What recruits could we have gotten if we had waited? The glass is half-full part of me says this record pays off in the next recruiting class. But I wonder who we would get if we had a few more scholarships this year.

I really think he wants to go to Iowa, but he doesn't even have an offer yet. His dad played at Iowa and he has said that he has been an Iowa fan his whole life. What does Iowa not see in him that Notre Dame and others do? Not that it means a damn thing but I've tweeted Seth Wallace about him twice. We just really need an OT in this class and if it's not going to be Farniok I think Foster would be great.

Hard to say considering most recruits are locked in to a school by now anyways. I also wouldn't throw dirt on this class either. A lot of recruits in this class had monster senior seasons that elevated their profile. And yeah I'll say it, Iowa has about 3 or 4 recruits that would likely have been bumped to 4 stars had they committed to Michigan, OSU or even MSU and PSU. Generally, recruiting picks up after more of a trend of success. The good thing is now Iowa is at least on the radar of more recruits which may results in more high profile visits. Now that Iowa has the new facilities, get em on campus and Iowa will reel in some higher profile recruits.

Wouldn't surprise me if Iowa had contacted Foster when hearing of some staff firings at MN considering Farniok might be leaning NE or at least is continuing to wait longer for a decision which puts Iowa in a riskier position with the recruiting clock ticking. Heck, maybe they would take both of them under certain circumstances.

the big year in recruiting is the following class. those relationships that are being created now - for '17.

Thinking our coaches are well aware of these opportunities that pop up. So, do players still come available late in the game? Sometimes. This young man just might be offered by IA....A diamond for the team? Maybe.

I say go after him with an offer and over-sign by 1 if we do manage to get Farniok also. It's time to play the new common core math so we stay competitive.
