#4 seed stuck in a #9 seeds body!!

Does anyone else think Jason Whitlock is genius columnist? I usually can find a lot of truth or understand the message he sends & thinks he is a great writer. I personally enjoy his writing & sarcasm. Usually people either luv him or hate him. I'll take him.

I thought on selection night UNI was more deserving of a better seed. But, the Miss Valley has not proven in the past to deserve better seeds so UNI might have had a scarlett letter on their collective chests. Also this year, the conference may be looked upon as being a bit "down" compared to the mid 2000's.

Anyway I thought going into the tournament, UNI was about a 4-6 seed stuck in a 9 seeds body. I think Kansas now realizes that as well. I don't think it was as big of upset as the seed #'s make it out to be. UNI matched up pretty well with Kansas & has all the ingrediants for a successful "mid-major" team including: A lot of playing time together/player retainment over 4 yrs, stifling defense, very low turnovers, great free-throw shooting, quality team depth & spectacular coaching.

All these components make UNI a very formidable opponent for any conference team level.

Here's a Whitlock article making a reference to UNI being underseeded. I thought the whole article was good indeed.

Whitlock is about 50/50 on good articles. I got my fill of him on the radio when he was on down here in KC. Nevertheless, I thought UNI as a #9 seed was a travesty. However, the NCAA screw up became KU's major problem in the second round. I think the committee needs to take a hard look at what seeds they are giving some of these mid-majors in the future?

I liked this comment.

"(That’s right. The refs called a fair game, which doesn’t always happen in conference play. No way Tyrel Reed would have been called for a charge with 26 seconds to play and Kansas trailing by four points in any Big 12 arena.)"
