3rd and 13 w/ 1:49......

I just got home from the game and there was something that just made me boil over in anger right before the half. I know this is just the way KF is but I just don't get it and this kind of stuff happens all the time. PSU just had a penalty which nulified a 1st down (a 1st down that would have put them in field goal range). The penalty was a block in the back on a 2nd down so after the penalty was enforce PSU had a 2nd and like 16 or something like that. They then run the ball for a gain of 3 yds or so. The clock was @ 1:49 and I was yelling for the coach to call a time out. We had two left and that would stop the clock and if PSU ran the ball again we could stop them, call a timeout, and get the ball back with like 1:30 seconds left. Instead Kirk decides that it's best to just let the clock run out. KF would say, "well we haven't done anything to this point offensively so we just wanted to go the the locker room and figure out what we can change and improve upon." That's fine when you're down by 7, 10, or even 14 pts. but we were down 24 pts. Seriously it's not like it can get much worse than 24-0. Did this make everyone just as mad watching it on tv?

nope, in fact there is a new stain on my carpet because of this very incident. jumping up from my recliner knocked over my drink. i thought it was common sense too.

he could be like me, who had a couple thousand posts before i didnt want to hide behind anonymity! i suggest the same for all!

Well, there is, although I don't see what that has to do with anything.

Assume you are retired, unemployed or just an idiot with nothing else to do. Congrats your stupid post count hit 7,000, you are in a special class now. Yes about 6,900 of them worthless.

Normally I would agree with you, but the way the D was getting shredded last night assuming you are going to get the ball back is reckless. Then throw in the reality of the offense scoring. I think for last night's situation it was the right call.

The defense was getting shredded but it's not like it was 3rd & 6. I would think the percentage would be in our favor to stop them w/ 3rd & 13. Football is a game of emotion and I doubt that 27-0 or 31-0 would make them feel a whole lot worse than they already did at 24-0. I know it would have been a long shot, but if the offense could put a 2:00 drive together and get a score before halftime the defense might feel like they have something to play for coming out of the locker room. I don't see how trying and failing could have caused any more damage.

I think Ferentz made the correct call at that point, unfortunately, that's probably the only call I agreed with Ferentz the whole game!
