3-6 in last 9 conference games

Over the last 9 games, Iowa and NU have split the series. Over the last 9 games, Iowa and NU are tied at 3-6 in conference (a stretch in which NU has been stuck relying on a backup QB). When I post that Fitzgerald is a better coach than Ferentz, that is not false. When I post that Northwestern tickets cost a fraction of the price of Iowa tickets for a comparable prodcut, that is not false.

Over the last 9 years how many bowl games has northwestern won? How 'bout over the last 59 years?

Conference Games:

2011: 3-3
2010: 4-4
2009: 6-2
2008: 5-3
2007: 4-4
2006: 2-6
2005: 5-3
2004: 7-1
2003: 5-3
2002: 8-0

If you look at those statistics then even a commoner with little statistical knowledge could spot a trend. Hawkeye teams under Ferentz have had three (3) excellent years (>6 conference wins), five (5) mediocre years (5 or 4 wins) and one (1) terrible year (<4 wins).

Only once during his tenure has he put a dominant team on the field (undefeated). Its pathetic that some of you defend this guy like he's some iconic figure who has taken Iowa to the promised land every year. He is overpaid and underperforms more than he exceeds expectations.

Iowa has better than .500 only twice in the past 6 years.

Its time for a change people.

Oh my god, Iowa won the Insight Bowl last year. That is the biggest accomplishment ever and should be hoisted on a banner for the world to see.

Over the last 9 years, how many times has Kurt Ferentz absolutely crapped the bed against Northwestern? Kurt should send Northwestern a thank you card because the near annual losses push Iowa down the bowl slots so we don't get crushed like everyone else in the Big Ten.

You still didn't answer the question you nit-wit. How many bowl games has NW one in the last 9 years or last 59 years??? I can't believe they even let you post on this board still...what a ******!!!

Blasphemy!! Don't you know we won the Orange Bowl in 2009!! We should be happy as pigs in ****. At least that is what some would tell you. The rest of us that don't bow down to KF, actually believe these types of wins and seasons should be expected because that is what should happen when you are throwing the type of resources at this program that Iowa is. And yes, I do buy season tickets and give money to the athletic department and yes I am getting a bit annoyed by how it is being used... or not being used I should say.

i say again, be an adult, go to the site of YOUR team, not OUR team. You are a NW fan, go to their site. Why be on this site?

Yes, because you know, "We sent more players to the NFL in the last X years than anyone except Florida and USC." Boy did John get aggravated on talkback when someone mentioned that sounded like nails on the chalkboard to hear that. And another thing, we should be happy with 6-6 and 7-5 seasons because "It's hard to win at Iowa!" Dang I'm sick of that one too.
Another caller suggested that the basically lifetime job that KF and his assistants have might just take the edge off of their performance...OOOhhh that was another one.
Now is where I get into trouble. Those business professors over at Tippie and the psych professors over in Seashore (buildings at the U of I for all you tavern hawks) spend lots of time getting me to understand that in Organizational performance terms, having a group that never changes and is complacent due to security is often a mediocre performing team. Which I've seen over and over in the corporate world as well. Damn University Education--- why can't I just shut up and drink the "NEVER EVER EVER EVER Question KF" Kool-Aide.
You know, there's a difference between wanting someone fired and actually wanting them to be held accountable and make changes when performance is lacking. If nothing else, couldn't it be argued that recruiting in 06-07 and 07-08 was pretty lame since those are the senior and rs senior classes that highlight this mediocre team? Oh wait- Iowa was 6-6 and 6-7 those years..hmm might that have SOMETHING to do with the current issues?
I guess those who don't think lousy seasons beget lousy seasons might want to ignore that little nugget.
Or maybe certain radio personalities are palling around with another radio personality that's in the CEO worshiping cult where no one who is paid a high salary is ever wrong...LOL

Not true.

I have a pic with OK4P from this past weekend donned in Iowa gear.

It means nothing to these fellas. Anyone who won't hold their ankles and pray at the altar of Ferentz or who questions the place of Iowa football is not a fan. Hundred bucks a seat per game, times 2 (drinking ticket), plus $250 for a motel room, plus gas, plus a long drive through Chicago traffic to get out there to watch a mediocre ballclub and these fellas will still question me.

At least Iowa academics are better than....damn you OK4P.

I am not saying that it's a good stat, I am saying that the original troll manipulated the data to make it look like KF is the 2nd worst coach in the league, and if you look at the aggregate data rather than a sub-set, it isn't as doom and gloom as he wants to trick us into thinking.

Over the last nine games KF is the second worst coach.

Sorry, bud, but there is no way in hell Northwestern and Iowa have the same record over that span. Whenever I point out that Iowa is roughly the same caliber football program as Northwestern I get flamed.

Okay I think I'm figuring this guy out. Took me a while. Pick an absurd handle, for the least successful coach, and post things that are false and which people will react to, to get a reaction. That I guess is more entertaining.

:) wow!

This does help us sometimes in bowls. It didn't last year or in '06, as our underacheiving still left us going up against ranked teams, but one prime example is the '09 Outback Bowl. That Iowa team was 12 points from being undefeated, averaged 30 ppg w/ Shonn Greene and had the #5 scoring defense in the country. Kirk and Norm's bowl prep prowess or not, that 7-5 South Carolina team had no chance as that Iowa team could have been in Pasadena had Kirk started Stanzi from the get-go.

Other examples: 2001 Alamo Bowl (topped Big Ten in total off AND def, but lost close games), 2006 Outback Bowl (gave away 9-2 season against UM and NW, Florida needed much zebra help), 2010 Insight Bowl (should have beat MN, NW, and WI, end up "upsetting" a nonetheless strong Mizzou team).

Crazy talk. Don't you know everything is going to be fine and we're going to hit a massive upward trend in two years?
