22 Year Old Kirkwood Student Owns Gary Barta

The writer of this letter must have watched many replays of the movie "Animal House", as the ending remarks are very similar to those presented by Hoover and the gang of DTX.
 
I was there for this and my brother recorded it all on his cell phone. He was gonna try and upload it to You Tube to show how ridiculous the cops behaved and went after these guys for virtually no reason. The only thing that was really wrong in what they were doing was their music was pretty loud.

This guy also posted this on BHGP and there was a good thread running over there a few days ago.

Is is true that you cannot play drinking games in the university lots anymore? I had not seen that anywhere. If so, that is completely ridiculous.
 
We'll see how it plays out this weekend. Just remember, you have to leave the parking lots by approx 7-7:30 so that you can take your money to the area's bars and restaurants if you want to continue seeing family and friends that you only get to see sometimes once a year. Oh, BTW, they have made it so that there is now more room inside some of those establishments for deeper pocketed (older) patrons.

Buddy reported that they were playing flippy cup and cops didn't care. That may be because that our group is late 20's.

who cares? he is the AD, and as such he is charged with finding funding for the athletic dept, and pi$$ed-off donors is generally not the best way to raise funds ... if he hears from enough of them he will have to weigh-in in their favor or he won't be able to do his job. the question you should ask is does he have enough weight to throw around?
 
I think it does have something to do with Barta considering he is the one doing the crack down and making it a "enjoyable atmosphere" But if they are outlawing tailgating games that's pretty stupid. I wish the person who caught the incident on video would get that posted, would love to see it!
 
All Barta cares about is getting fans into the stadium, and getting them the hell out of IC immediately after that. The University gets their money, and he doesn't have to deal with pizzed off doners/boosters, who apparently forgot how to have a good time.
 
Great read. It's stuff like that that just ticks me off about this policy. IC cops are d**ks in general, and this does nothing but give them even more power. "Pack up and get the hell off the lot."? Are you kidding me? No warning to turn down the music, or check to see if they are actually drinking? I'm glad they got the officer talked down, but it's ridiculous that it was even necessary to do so.
 
If there is to be any repeal or at least a more lenient stance by the powers that be on the new rules, then it will only be accomplished by organization of those opposed. Then following through on any boycott or protest that is put forth.

Otherwise I'm afraid any complaints will fall on deaf ears. It is just that simple.
 
Once again.......fans think that getting drunk is what Hawkeye Football is all about. Get a life.......

I was playing flippy cup while talking to security guards - no problems, and for the first time in my life I had a six pack down by 9am!!!!! and no, I am not a slobbering drunk - just a happy hawkeye fan that enjoyed cheering on my hawks
