2018 Top 25 Pre-Season

Hawks have finished in top 25 once this decade. A lot of excitement in Ames. Makes sense to me. Hate to say it.

Iowa struggles mightily, toils and expends vast resources to find its self ranked the middle among ~100 football teams in America

Really bad prognosis by whoever did that poll. I would predict at best 6 and 6 season. Some have already pointed out the graduation attrition and possible impact.

I can hear ISU fan...no way we lose to Oklahoma at home...they lost Baker Mayfield. I hate to tell you this but Oklahoma is going to remember last year...they won't overlook you...they will come in to kick some ass.

Kansas State is a very possible loss as well.

I remember acid washed jeans.

I have started buying dress pants. I can't afford jeans.

How fun would a start to the season be with wins over a top 25 B12 team and a top 10 Wisconsin. Hawks would be in the top 15, maybe top 10 heading into their bye weekend September 29th.

Wisky losses 10 starters on defense and they are Top 10?!?!? Next year they are at Iowa, Penn St, Northwestern, Purdue & at Michigan. No way they go 12-0 again. They lose at least 2 of those games, maybe 3. I'm worried about Purdue, they seem on the up-swing now.

I've completely given up thinking Wisky will drop off due to attrition. They lost a lot last year, their AA in Ciche...and rolled along. Logic would think it would hit them...but it hasn't for a while. They will be the Strong favorites in the West again.

Wisconsin is not losing 10 D starters going in to next year. They are bringing back 3 guys who have started at ILB alone including 1st team All American TJ Edwards. The secondary will be the lone question mark where they are losing 3 of 4 starters. The biggest returner however is the DC Jim Leonhard. Also helping the D is an offense that returns 10 starters including 3 All American and 1 Freshman All American lineman blocking for a RB that had the most yards ever for a freshman.

Yes the schedule is tougher for them (this year was cupcake) but that preseason rank is certainly justified and should be heavy favorites to make it back to Indy.
