Lets say iowa blows their chances this year, goes 8-4, or loses the big ten west title against wisky or neb. Could 2015 be iowa's second chance or will the schedule be much tougher?

In one of Miller and Deace's podcast, steve mentioned how Dan McCarney and iSU never recovered after blowing their shot at the B12 North title in 2007 (I think it was 07), and that if iowa doesnt win the West in these next two yrs, with the gift of a schedule, then KF and iowa could fall just like ISU did.

If it doesn't happen this year, it won't happen again under Ferentz. This is a "do or die" season for Kirk. He will be gone after 2015 season if under perform this season and next.

I agree that this year is the best shot, but funny things can happen, like in 2009 when Iowa went to top 5 PSU and, Wis and won, and almost pulled off the miracle win at OSU without Stanzi.

But, I like our chances better this year with Scherff and Davis as all American candidates and Louie TP and Donnal are senior linemen.

Why talk about the 2015 season when 2014 is just around the corner.

And hardly anyone seems to be on this forum now anyway. Maybe because of the beautiful summer.

I check in twice a day and there is hardly anything here.

I am hoping to watch some good football the next 5-10 years but take one game at a time.

This. /thread

2014 is not do or die, but KF better win at least 9 games in either 2014 or 2015. One or the other.

The schedule just does not matter that much with the style ferentz coaches. We are usually solid, competitive and stout against anyone...but we always play close games against everyone. I can easily see us losing a couple games this year simply because we are breaking in a new kicker.

Never recovered? I think you mean, they peaked. That's the closest ISU has ever gotten to anything resembling a conference title. IOWA "falling" like isu did...? come on man

You shouldn't complain about the thread topic and complain there is nothing on the board in the same post.

Nope. Ferentz is here until his contract ends.

I agree. And I hope he is. There's not another coach I believe that can come in and do better than Ferentz has at Iowa. Hes one hell of a coach. Thats why he has been offered so many jobs and he has stayed loyal to Iowa. I hope he's around for a long time

Have you looked at 2016? or 2017? Most of the current two-deeps will be gone, we're screwed.

Not only this but look at 2020, the entire roster will be gone. Hopefully recruiting picks up so Iowa won't have to play ironman football with guys going both ways.

Chizek was at ISU in 2007. 2004 and 2005 I believe were the blown years.
