2013 preseason 2-Deeps

Adam Cox played well in the spring game and in practice. This has earned him the number 1 spot at fb. He has also played running back during spring ball. He may be Iowa's next walk on under the radar guy to become something big. There are actually a few on the team.

Most people would elaborate instead of bland statements with no reasoning. I prefer a guy like herby (whose reasoning was illogical but at least he stated reasoning) to someone who just makes a comment without reasoning. At least enlighten me on how I am wrong.

Actually I agree with most of what you said. I was just messing around

No. Shut up.

I can see Lile challenging for a safety spot as he was making waves last year before his injury. Law was dinged up most of the spring so that's why lowdermilk is up there. I think the DBs will improve with Parker back coaching them.

It will be interesting to see what WRs step up.

When does camp actually start?

Lots of holes on there, and I'm not nearly as sold on the OL as most are. Still tons of inexperience on that 2-deep. A bowl game would be a minor miracle this year.

With Scherff Blythe and Van Sloten, all you have to find is two decent guards and its a very good line. Donnal, Walsh, Bofelli all showed flashes last year. MacMillan was very good when he was healthy but it's been awhile.

Does this mean I need to start to learn the pronunciation of Venckus-Cucchiara's name or do I have another year to get it down?

We should probably learn it, or at least go with DVC. If I'm not mistaken he was 2nd or 3rd team all state in Florida at DE, think he made 2nd or 3rd team on the OL as well. 2nd/3rd team All-State in FLA is about the equivalent to being the best high school football player out of the state of Iowa. He's light but he obviously can play.

Agreed on the light part, and perhaps he just has a stack of athletic abilities. I was surprised with how low his weight is. Probably anther year with Doyle until we need to learn the name, for sure. I'll vote for DVC.

I know nothing about either fullback. Anybody know anything about them?

Adam Cox, walk-on RS FR(?) this year. Certainly has the FB "look"...

Macon Plewa, walk on RS FR this year. Played LB in HS, was recruited as a LB, then switched positions for this year's spring practice.

That's all I got.

Thanks for that.

FB must not be a heavily recruited position for the hawks if both are walk ons.

There have been some extenuating circumstances at that position, with Brad Rogers having to quit football and Weisman's arrival as a RB, both of whom would have been in front of either of these guys on the FB depth chart.

I thought the reason for the innocuous "Y" position on the spring depth chart was the very young/very green/very shallow FB corps. But now the FB position is back on the depth chart and all is right with the world. :)

August 5th.

Freed, I'm not sure if you are serious or not, but I will assume that you are. Iowa seems to routinely plug the FB position with somebody that didn't workout somewhere else. There are only a couple of kids under Ferentz that I can remember being recruited specifically for FB.
