2012 Wes Staten transferred to SC Heelan

I do know the truth and facts. Everyone knows the truth and facts. All of the private schools do it. Just don't get all pissy when you get called on it.

I have friends who have coached in public and private schools. They have told me how it works, not that I did not already know.

It has happened in the past at Iowa City West and City High, and some could even say Solon here around IC.

It happens all over the place and to try and say that it's just private schools that do it is 100% false and laughable.

True. Typically the private schools recruit them before 9th grade so it appears that they were theirs all along.

This is old news he transferred at semester time. If he ends up at ISU
I'll be shocked!

I would be too considering ISU is going to have one scholarship available for 2012 class. They have 5 recruits for 2010 (graduate 2) and 2 for 2011 (graduate 1) plus PSU transfer Chris Babb is most likely going to sign with ISU. So ISU will have 8 recruits for next 2 years but only graduate 3. That gives them 1, maybe 2, offers for 2012. Good for them they are loading up now but d@mn they are going to miss out on 2012 class. Iowa may have 4-5 offers by then. Plus Kevin Noreen is visiting ISU so if he goes to ISU make that 9 recruits for next 2 years.

He verballed to them in 9th grade I didnt hear any comments from Staten when Hoiberg
became coach but it sort of looks like ISU thinks he wont be there also if your numbers
are correct.

ISU will have more than two scholarships to offer in 2012.

Trust me, schollys will work themselves out. Just always assume there will be an open on, or go ahead and open one yourself for a better player. I'm glad we are loading up... kind of a win now attitude I think, before perception turns on Hoiberg. And going back to public/private... what makes it so wrong if he gets a free ride to a private school. Its not like any of you pay anything to go to a public school. Can you fault a kid for trying to get a better education for the same price?

Which also means "bigger than Iowa" too, for the record.

I assumed that. Lots of kids say that and then come back to earth. He sounds talented enough to go that route though. I've heard KU for a long time. He played on a Kansas City AAU team at one time,I believe.

I think you are right. He has really played all over the place. He is one of the many in this class of 2012 that Iowa and ISU are going to have to fight off other big time programs for. He is that good, and so are about 7-9 others in this class.

Staten will NOT end up in Ames, period. He has said he wants to "go bigger than that."

Not saying I don't see him going to a big time school, but where did you hear this? If I was planning to go to a "bigger school" I probably wouldn't have committed my freshman year. I know he did decommit, but figured that was due to the coaching staff turnover.
