2011 Recruit - who do you want to land?

If I'm recruiting, I'd be on a plane straight to the east coast with written offers for Derrick Wilson and Tyrone Johnson. These are two athletic, skilled east coast point guards with size who are both also very good at football, so they possess that football toughness. I'd take either, and I think either would kick butt in the Big Ten.

Sounds good, but I think after getting stung by Nick Russell and Malcolm Armstead the coaches might be a little afraid to recruit outside of the midwest.

I like Zeller a lot. I hope IU gets him but think he will go to Purdue. Same goes for Randle except I think he will go to Illinois. Either would be a great get.

This is probably true. I don't expect either Randle or Zeller to be Hawkeyes.

Michael Gilchrist! But seriously, I would love to see Trey McDonald become a Hawkeye. He's big (though not immobile) and seems to really like Iowa.

Hope the instate schools dont offer McDonald 'cause its over if they do. But you're right, thats another one that would be a good get.

Maybe I am being short sighted but why do you want another big guy? I remember him from the elite camp and he seemed to be a raw big who could affect some shots around the rim. What do you make of the point guard situation?

That someone new will be added to the roster at the PG position for next year.:D

Kenyon speaks highly of McDonald.

I'm not sure what they see in this kid. Maybe he has a lot of upside, but he isn't putting up eye popping stats this season. He only averages around 10 points a game, hasn't hit one deep ball this season, and is a terrible FT shooter only averaging 43% from the charity stripe. I wasn't able to gather his rebound or block stats, so I can't comment on those.

Again, McDonald may have a big upside, but he seems inconsistent at this point. Some games he has put up really nice numbers, and other he has kinda disappeared. He does get rave reviews from scouts in Michigan and has attracted some high-major interest, but right now Iowa is his only high-major offer.
