2011 Recruit - who do you want to land?

Chasson Randle is my dream recruit for 2011....go get'em lick!!
Follow that up with Paige in 2012,and Jok in 2013,and I am a happy camper.

I guess it would include guys that have an interest in Iowa and vice versa.

Weeellll, I'm not sure of his level of interest in Iowa, but I know he was suppose to or maybe did attend the Elite Camp last summer. I know Iowa is recruiting him, but they have not offered to my knowledge. BUT, I would like to see the Hawkeyes land 2011 PG Estan Tyler of St. Paul Johnson in St. Paul, MN.

Iowa needs depth at point guard, period. This kid is a baller and has the kind of team first mentality that Lick looks for in a player.

As mentioned, Chasson Randle would be awesome.

I'd like to see a true center added but it seems Iowa isn't recruiting any.

Randle, hands down.

But it strikes me as an act of cruelty even to pose the question. ;-) We are so far removed from being able to think realistically about landing "who we want" (perhaps apart from in-state kids, or perhaps not) that it's folly to even have a wish list.

From a more realistic perspective, what I hope we'll land is a player who can add athleticism to our backcourt. Not another tweener who fans like to call a guard, but a real guard. Guards are the currency of college basketball. I'd settle for a Scottie Reynolds type. (LOL) The priority could shift if we add an athletic PG to the 2010 class, which I'd love to see.

If that happens or if we somehow have two rides in the class, then come on down, Mr. Zeller.

My definition of success in that recruiting class would be filling the most pressing need with a legitimate player who can help some as a freshman. No one should limit the definition of success to landing someone like Randle or Zeller. It's just not realistic for where this program is right now.

I do think that Randle is genuinely interested in Iowa. He has visited multiple times. If he wants a chance to play, this would be the place to go as.

Besides Zeller and Randle, I haven't heard of any other names. Hopefully we don't need to hear of any others.

If I'm recruiting, I'd be on a plane straight to the east coast with written offers for Derrick Wilson and Tyrone Johnson. These are two athletic, skilled east coast point guards with size who are both also very good at football, so they possess that football toughness. I'd take either, and I think either would kick butt in the Big Ten.

And, spank, he's from the Twin Cities--look no farther.

I would want one of these names for the 'recruiting' class of 2011:

Billy Gillespie
Anthony Grant
Johnny Dawkins
Wojo
