1st play from scrimmage?

Bomb, the route is on...

haha, I highly doubt the bomb is play 2 since we hardly ever throw bombs. But Alex, I will take Daniels power up the middle for play 2 for a 100.

Actually, have you noticed that Penn St is just living on throwing the bomb about 5-10 times a game. They have it down to a science, run barkley and mcsorley out of the zone read and throw a few short passes, suck up the defense, then go over the top. Mcsorley just throws them high and long and the percentages are with the offense.

I think Mcsorley was something like 8 or 9 completions on 20+ throws against Ohio St but they got 200+ yards and the hawks were having trouble getting 100 yards passing, and if you get one or two PI penalties then that is great production.

Davis won't be able to resist calling some type of trick play - I'm predicting a WR pass. . . that will most likely end horribly.

I'm going with a double reverse to Wadley that everyone will see coming because he almost never lines up in the slot.

It depends on which is the short side of the field, had the short side been on the left, the first down play would have been off left tackle. So now we are up to 3rd down, I will go with Draw for $200 Josh.

Ferentz going to try to be tricky. First play from scrimmage will be play action pass to Jerminic Smith running a skinny post down the middle to set the tone.

I think this puts us at 3rd and about 6. CJ takes the snap and holds the ball for 6 seconds before eating a 9 yard loss. Now 4th and 15.

Iowa punts. Florida gains four yards on its first two downs trying to run the ball, then throws incomplete. Punt.

Rinse, lather, repeat.

Trivia: how many games has Iowa started this season with a Daniels run?

9 out of 12. Those 9 carries yielded 70 yards, for an average of 7.8 yards per carry. Long of 28, short of 0, median of 7 (only 2 out of those 9 went for fewer than 5 yards).

The other 3 games: inc pass, drop-back and scramble (3 yds), Wadley carry for -2 yds. Average of 0.33 yds per play.

I have looked at run/pass on first play for other seasons, and it is usually about 50/50 for Iowa. I was surprised that they were so much more run heavy on Play 1 this year, but when you look at the success they had, it makes sense. No if they can just repeat that on plays 2-70, we should be in great shape.

You were surprised?

You guys are being so negative...why can't you post something positive. You know, like my recruiting thread that was removed within an hour. Good lord....I guess someone was scared that if we lost another MAC recruit he might get blamed by letting this site run amok. Maybe I shouldn't have used the young mans name in the title of the thread...but my point is valid and still stands.

It's not our fault that Davis and Ferentz have no imagination on offense and are painfully easy to predict! Not to mention CJ all of a sudden being unable to make a decision in the pocket and eating unnecessary sacks.

I'm curious to know more...
