0-3 start was predicted by many of us

Team just needs to keep focused and not panic. We knew it was likely to be a 1-2 or 0-3 start.

There are plenty of winnable games still out there.

No, I didn't expect a good start with the schedule we've played but I was hoping to split the first two home games. The Hawks are missing chances for quality wins for their tournament resume.

Actually someone posted the 3 games in results of the B1G prediction thread......Not very many predicted this.

Not many people went down the schedule game by game. I fully expected us to be 1-6 after the first 7 games. However, I have less confidence on the back end of the schedule, such as winning at Purdue and beating Illinois at home.

I never thought we would beat NW at NW. Will be pleasantly surprised if we do.

Yeah, what Ghost said. I didn't itemize, but my predictions are pretty much consistent with where we are at. If there was a breakdown in most of our thinking, though, it was that there was a huge separation between the top-7 and bottom-5 teams. That doesn't appear to be the case, so it makes the presumed "late season run" a little more suspect. Time will tell, though. We could rattle off 18 in a row and finish 5th in the nation. I'll just go ahead and predict that. 29-5, baby.

While disappointed in the 0-3 start, I am somewhat heartened that one, if not two, of those games was winnable. I thought the team would struggle more against MSU without Marble but they held their own and should have won. Young team needs to develop a killer instinct and learn how to close out.

Iowa MBB: VanLaere
12/31 vs. Indiana IOWA CITY LOSS

01/06 at Michigan ANN ARBOR LOSS

01/10 vs.Mich State IOWA CITY LOSS

I did.
But I also thought I would lose to NW in Evanston. But that was before NW lost both Crawford and Cobb. Now with them out, I think Iowa should certainly beat the Wildcats

I guess I don't see these winnable games many speak of. I think we will see today that even NW is more athletic and has better shooters than we do. Sketchy PG play, nobody able to create their own offense and awful 3 point shooting is not a recipe to beat anybody in the big ten. I hope I am wrong, but I don't see us beating NW today.

Northwestern is not that good. For the first time in a long time, I think Iowa has the better talent and if allowed to run should win this game handily. Besides, Shaggy Doo has graduated. But as another poster illustrated, Welsh-Ryan is always a house of horrors for us, so the kitties could get hot raining threes and Iowa has no answer. But I think the winning streak begins today.

I won't predict Iowa to win a game on the road until I see it. Remember what happened last time Iowa went on the road against an average team that had decent guards? No doubt Hearn and Sobelewski would get hot in a second and rip our perimeter defense to shreds.

White needs to show up in a big way if we're going to win this. He has been non-existent in BoneG play so far.

I still think they will go 9-9, including 6-0 against Penn St, Northwestern, and Nebraska. With a win in the BTC tourney, the Hawks will go to The Dance!

"Should" beat the cats but with Marble out / less than 100% chances go down. Agree with Ghost that White needs to take over today, as well as Woody. Prob is Fran has him sitting due to playing so soft & weak D. Can easily see Cats back-dooring him to death & harassing him with the 1-3-1.
Unfortunately, the W must come from inside today & not sure Woody / White r up to the task.
