If GMs show too much loyalty they start losing games and lose their jobs. If owners show too much they start losing and people stop filling seats. If players show too much they are accused of not wanting to win. Fans are the only people that can show 100% loyalty and not get hurt by it.

While this may be true(I've never seen the kid play) who wouldn't want someone named Taco on their team? It's a big loss based on the name alone. But I'm more of an Italian food fan so if there's a kid out there with the name Lasagna or Stromboli we gotta get him!

Those were also different coaching staffs and Iowa's basketball program was on a different level then. Also as a previous post stated, it depends on what else is available that season.

If you read my original post I wasn't talking about the tournaments. I was talking about scheduling regular non-conference games and I wasn't talking about scheduling teams like Kansas, it would be a team of similar ability to Iowa in the Big 12.

Some of the above posters are correct, the reason he went juco was he was coming from a small school. He is a smart kid and did not play center until he got to Iowa Western. I think he will represent the Hawkeyes well on and off the field.
