    Iowa's 2013-2014 Wrestling Schedule

While the hawks have little control over their big ten schedule, you'd think that they could beef up the Iowa duals a little bit. The iowa duals are a lose lose scenario, if they don't win every match there will be disappointment. There will be some good matches against Iowa State, but other...

    Nickal to PSU

Sure is. I try to stay optimistic, but consider too that Haines had committed, Cael deemed him the lesser of his hvy recruits, and only now has Iowa on his radar...

    Marsteller to PSU

I see both sides. a year ago it was guilbon. now are you disappointed that we got only got gilman and clark. same thing with the steibers, iowa had to settle for ramos. iowa isnt taking in leftovers from anyone, they're recruiting kids who fit their style and developing the heck out of them...

    Edwin Cooper

I agree with both of you. Typing a '2' or '4' in place of the linking verbs 'to' or 'for' is not faster.

Brands, Hawkeyes eye return to the top

I would admire Tony for trying 141, that take on all and back down to none attitude has been missing. But I really hope he stays at 133 and takes his shot against Logan in the dual. He'd get his shot at Logan with very little to lose.

More On Alabama Offer To Pierschbacher

I'd agree that for a fan of a team to jump ship and go with the front-runners is 'douchey.' But the kid isn't trying to decide which team he is going to be a fan of. He's trying to decide which university is the best fit for him personally and professionally. I really hope it's Iowa, but if...

    Destin McCauley

I believe him this time. He has Olympic aspirations then Jordan Burroughs is a man he wants to be around. Jordan Burroughs as an assistant coach would be worth his weight in gold.

    Doug Miner

Without ever really watching him, I think I like him. He must be supremely confident in his abilities with gilman and clark one year ahead of him. Signings like this will forever remind me of the time Iowa signed the top recruit in the nation, nate moore, and a three timer named mat mcd...

    UFC Uriah Hall tomorrow night

Juggling expectations for Uriah Hall - Mixed Martial Arts Blog - ESPN Good article about Uriah Hall, has anyone else watched this guy's fights on the show? He is absolutely brutal. The ultimate fighter final is tomorrow night, it is worth tuning in to see this guy. Here's a couple of his...

    Destin McCauley

I'll be happy too if he commits and upgrades the spot. I'm just weary of the Dylan Carew syndrome hawkeye message boards have where a guy is pegged as a sure fire all-american before he ever proves anything as a hawkeye.

    Destin McCauley

I'm not getting my hopes high. He may be an upgrade, but not sure how much of one. I pasted his year from the NWCA site. I read on the other site he beat Jake Ballweg in high school, but his wrestling this past season doesn't seem like there's much there to get too hyped about. (Since he...

Attention wrestling fans: vote for the Dan Hodge Trophy winner

Dake got my vote! I believe that Taylor is the second best wrestler in the country and Dake not only beat him three times this season, he moved up a weight class to do it. He chose the toughest path possible for his historic 4th championship. Awesome and I bet we never see anything like it again.

    ISU’s Jackson receives extension

KJ should be fired for many reasons but the fact that Meeks didn't red-shirt should've been the final straw.

    Hodge Trophy predictions

That was for a guy winning who had no legs below his knees (or 1 leg or no legs) if I remember right.

    National Duals attendance unnerving

I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict that a few more people show up in Des Moines. MN is a hockey state first, foremost, and only. I have a lot cousins who wrestled on good MN high school teams. Visited them spring break years ago in a year when MN had won the championship and was...

    "They're training through this weekend..."

has to be the worst excuse and yet the most used. Closely followed by weight issues and flu.

    Sorenson Question

Thanks. Meeks was a stud in high school. I thought he'd be a better college wrestler than Cory Clark, man they've had opposite years this year. Clark has a heck of a future and Meeks looks like a someone they threw in to fill the lineup.

    Sorenson Question

He was undefeated his freshman and senior seasons. As a junior he wrestled 132 and his only loss came when he went up a weight class for a shot at Meeks. As a sophomore he had two losses, who were those to?

    sad news for wrestling fans

Not sure what you're talking about. Wrestlers never win more than one medal at the same olympics.
