I am like the OP. I don't expect conference championships every season but I do expect us to be in the top third of the conference. As for Top 25 I think we should make a pretty regular appearance. We are not Indiana, or Minnesota or Northwestern... But lately we have digressed to that level.

It's a good question... And I have doubt about Barta bringing in a top coach. I think one of the biggest factors is how much are we willing to pay for a new coach?

It does make it hard to be too excited about the state of the program.

This point in time is reminding of the last few years of Alford. A divided fanbase makes it hard to move forward as a program. In 35 years of being a diehard, this team is a headscratcher.

Did not hear his post game... But how this team performs falls on Kirk and his staff. He should be mad... This was the worst loss of his tenure ... And that is disheartening...

I think it is just Kirk's mentality. Sure they want to win championships... We just no longer have the program get there.

As fans, it's hard to see games like today. As soon as we were behind 21-7 I think many of us had thoughts how this game would turn out. As a lifetime Hawk, I will always watch them. The unfortunate part for me is that apathy has set in. For 35 years I have witnessed the many ups and downs...

Another head scratcher ... Will we see the Iowa team that showed up against NW? Or will we see the team that has mostly been playing one half per game of decent football? I want to BELIEVE we have more talent than the Goofers ... The expected weather leads me to think this game won't be real...

We need to see more than one game of this offense clicking on all cylinders. The Iowa team we saw Saturday is the team all of us have been waiting to see. I think Saturday will offer a lot of insight as to if the Northwestern game was a one-hit wonder or possibly this team will start clicking...

Can't say I have ever witnessed one team's captains refuse to shake hands with the opponent's team captains. Personally, I found it more childish than anything. Respect the game, boys.

I am liking the looks of this class. Well done Fran and staff ... Lots of talent in the Illinois ... Chicago area so nice to see us opening some of the doors back up ... Looks like a great addition ...

I have to trust the coaching staff is playing its best players. They see these kids day in and day out. Wadley had a great game and it will only help him for the future. Next man in. He got his shot and he made the most of it.

I guess my thought process is to be concerned ... And to focus... On the players on the field. Per Kirk's call in show it sounded like the kid is not coming. Wish him well. Whatever his reasons, he made his decision.

Saturday's game definitely did not mirror previous play calling by Davis.

I love these "see, I told you so" posts. None of us expected today's outcome. TODAY'S team is the one we have all been waiting to see. It was a great win and Iowa's first complete game of the season. So let's just enjoy it without calling out fans. We all want Iowa to win and up until today...

I enjoyed the win. Up to today I don't think any of us would have predicted today's outcome. It's a win and enjoy the outcome for what it was.

As much as Fitz seems to own Kirk, I think we leave Kinnick with a win. The gullible part of me expects us to (for some reason) play our best game; an actual full, complete game. Of course, I also expected Iowa to go 10-2 so what the he$$ do I know? :) Hawks 34 Cats 24
